Chapter 3 Consequences

  • "Alpha? What were you talking about?" Jordan's words echoed in my mind, leaving me confused and stunned.
  • "What do you mean?" I managed to articulate, despite my trembling legs and the shock that enveloped me.
  • "Are you going to take my son away from me?" I asked, resigned but with a hint of desperation in my voice.
  • "If he's mine, yes! That's what I'll do." The devilish smile returned to Jordan's face, feeding his pleasure at the situation.
  • "Go to hell!" I shuddered and leaned on the table. "You and your damn blood. I've never needed you, and now you threaten me? Don't bother, I'll manage." As I walked away, Jordan grabbed me tightly, pulling me back.
  • "You should have thought about the consequences before, Celine. Now I will uncover the truth, whether you like it or not." His voice was full of hatred as he stared intensely at me.
  • "I order you to stay away from us," I said acidly, facing him directly, but the defiant gleam in his eyes only seemed to fuel Jordan's rebellious desires. I pulled my arm forcefully.
  • "I don't even know why I came here." I approached the door and opened it, turning to look at him.
  • "Cursed be the day I thought you were someone to trust." I slammed the door and ran out of the pub. I got into my rental car, letting the tears flow freely down my face.
  • Jordan was an option, but he wouldn't be the last. There was another way to find a compatible donor for Benjamin. I wiped away the tears with my hands and grabbed my phone to call my assistant.
  • "Diana, I need you to do me a favor," I said, still sniffling from the desperation I felt in my chest.
  • "Of course, Mrs. Jones, what is it?" the assistant replied.
  • "Find someone who can search for potential donors for Ben," I said, keeping my eyes fixed on the steering wheel as I spoke. "Anyone, legal or illegal, as long as my son has a chance to survive." The assistant remained silent on the other end of the line.
  • "Diana?" I looked up and saw Jordan standing in front of my car with his arms crossed.
  • "Mrs., the signal is terrible," the assistant said, as I kept my gaze fixed on the man in front of me.
  • "Do as I say." I hung up the call and put on my seatbelt. I started the car and reversed out of the parking lot.
  • I accelerated to the maximum to reach the local airport, where the company's plane was waiting for me. The emblem of Jones and Associates Construction was on the side of the plane. As soon as I saw it, relief washed over me. I would soon be back with my little one.
  • I left the car with my security guard and headed towards the pilot, who was waiting for me on the stairs.
  • "You were faster than you said, ma'am," he greeted me.
  • "Just get me out of this seat, Carter," I said as I settled into the beige chair. "Benjamin needs me," I murmured.
  • The man looked at me with pity, and I glared at him. I hated it when people showed that kind of sentiment. As soon as the plane took off, I grabbed my phone to check for messages, but nothing seemed to hold my attention except for Jordan's threatening words echoing in my mind.
  • I began to research what it meant to be an alpha, and my searches yielded several references, one of which was the leader of a wolf pack. I started laughing at the idea.
  • "Was he crazy?" I thought, still chuckling at my research.
  • Everything about Jordan showed leadership, but for him to think it was related to wolves seemed absurd. My biggest mistake was believing he could help me in any way.
  • I kept reading and saw that there were many studies about species of werewolves that apparently still roamed the earth, and that the region where Jordan lived had been one of the most prosperous for his kind.
  • "He's crazy, and I'm even crazier for believing this nonsense." I turned off my phone, feeling even more annoyed.
  • When I finally arrived in Seattle, I went straight to the hospital with my heart squeezed with anxiety and fear. Benjamin was getting worse, and I couldn't lose him. As I entered the hospital, my mind was a mess, but I had to be strong. I had to be there for my son.
  • A doctor with tired and serious eyes approached me as I waited impatiently in the waiting room.
  • "Are you Benjamin's mother?" he asked with a calm voice, but there was sadness in his eyes.
  • "Yes, I am," I replied, trying to keep my voice steady.
  • The doctor nodded and led me to a private room. He began to explain Benjamin's situation, but his words were a blur in my ears. I struggled to maintain composure as he spoke about my son's deteriorating health. Every word pierced my heart, and I felt helpless, on the brink of despair.
  • "He needs a compatible bone marrow donor as soon as possible," the doctor insisted. "Time is running out, and we don't have a suitable donor in our database. We've done everything we can, but we see no improvement."
  • I swallowed hard, trying to hold back the tears that threatened to fall from my eyes. Benjamin needed a miracle, and I would do anything to save him.
  • "Please, doctor, is there anything else we can do?" My voice trembled as I pleaded.
  • The doctor sighed, his expression filled with regret. "The only option now is to find a compatible donor, and quickly."
  • His words echoed in my mind as I considered what to do next. I had already instructed my assistant to find possible donors, but time was running out, and I couldn't rely solely on that. I had to find a way to save my son, even if it meant making a deal with Jordan.
  • In either situation, I would lose my son, but in one of them, he would still be alive.
