Chapter 17

  • The day had just began and it wasn’t starting out well for Zipporah. Waking up to a free bed and breakfast from Rose was great. The girls dropped a note that they would be back soon and had to be at work or an interview. Once she finished her breakfast of toast and scrambled eggs, the rest of her day morphed into chaos she didn’t really care for. She had slept better with her friends by her sides and after her call to her dad, she woke up feeling more grateful for the people she had in her life. She wanted, desperately, to focus on the good in her life. She was young, smart with great friends and a new found closeness with her dad. Everything was falling apart but she wouldn’t give up on trying to hold it all together.
  • Her day went to absolute shit when she was on her laptop. Her last hour had been spent researching all the things she needed to know about men that turned into wolves. And boy was it a lot of information and opinions. Werewolves were one of the most popular mythologies and there were several books and movies based on their existence which she added to her list to read or binge. She wasn’t going to wait for Adam to come around and tell her what he thought she might need to know and probably keep the rest from her because he still thought she was the same young girl that needed his protection from the truth.
  • While she skimmed from articles to blogs, she made a list of questions she wanted to ask Adam. She wondered if she was becoming obsessed with this newly found world when her list got to a hundred and one possible questions she should ask. The honest truth was her brain needed to catch up with her. A part of her brain was stuck to logic, a wolf was a wolf and a man was a man. They had no business being both but she couldn’t deny the moment of truth edged into her memory. She could still hear his bone crack and arch into a big, black wolf, his furs had been full and soothing. She raised her knees up to her chin and hugged her legs, the images on the her screen showed monsters that preyed on humans and had no regard for rules. They were described as monsters and spawns of the devil.
