- The engine purred beneath us as Ronan drove us out of the city. I had informed him after the call and we drove straight to the countryside. Rain streaked the windshield in silver lines, a perfect mirror of the storm twisting inside my chest. I sat in the passenger seat, staring out at the blurring trees, arms folded, my leg bouncing restlessly.
