Chapter 3

  • "What about you? Haven't you found your mate yet?" Strider looked up then smiled. Strider and him had both lost the one they loved making it the only thing common about them.
  • "No, it's very hard to find that perfect person for the second time." Once those words where said his past lovers face flashed in his mind and the horror that followed.
  • "Are you okay Layton?" Strider asked knowing what he triggered.
  • "It was my fault, I should have known better. She deserved better." Layton said in a broken, low tone that Strider felt pity.
  • "It wasn't your fault, this world has it's way of changing things we just had to learn how to adopt to those changes." Strider said as he handed the alpha a cup of clear water and a napkin.
  • "I have to admit Strider your right, it looks like your not completely useless after all."
  • Layton still waited patiently for Gemini and Strider was still by his side when one of the hunters from the pack shared information with Layton leaving Strider confused.
  • "As soon as she gets out you'll take her to my marquee, I have some important issues to solve." Strider nodded then Layton later left. Strider knew how important the alpha's reasoning and opinions where but he couldn't help but wonder whether Layton had thought it through. He couldn't ignore the weak signs the girl was giving and wondered if she would be a strong leader. He had a too many things he had to look after and he wasn't planning on adding more weight to his shoulders. Gemini finally left the bathroom and searched around for the man she bumped into. After a few searches she felt a tap on her shoulder then turned to see a middle height guy with brown hair and hazel eyes.
  • "I believe you're the girl that bumped into my leader." He said and Gemini realizing what he meant nodded.
  • "I would like to know your name first." He demanded making Gemini feel quite uncomfortable.
  • "Gemini Burn."
  • "What an odd name, so tell me Gemini which pack do you belong to?" Strider asked rudely making Gemini question his politeness still she hesitated and remained silent.
  • "It is important I or we know which pack you belong to as my alpha has many enemies and also cause he does not trust you."
  • "I don't belong to any pack." She finally said as she felt her heart race. Strider paused then thought.
  • "You can't tell me you leave alone. Do you?" He asked the girl, if she told them her mother was human it would send some red flags and they wouldn't hesitate to kill her.
  • "Yes, I leave alone." Strider was confused it was an usual for a single wolf to hunt on their own and feeling the weak energy from her made him more confused. There was something about her he didn't trust.
  • "That's very odd, anyway he told me to guide you to his tent cause he had some work he had to attend." He pointed his head to the exit and Gemini got the message and headed for the exit.
  • "I prefer if you do not talk back in a rude manner or cut him in between his sentences, he is terribly short tempered and anything can trigger it." He faced Gemini as she nodded. After a while of walking the approached Layton's marquee and Strider turned to her.
  • "What ever he asks to you do not deny, he does not take no for an answer." With all the information Strider was telling her, fear built up.
  • "You can go in." He lastly said to the frightened girl but she nodded and went in. To her relief he had not yet returned so she had to wait patiently, the thought of escaping filled her head but she couldn't as the other male guarded the door. He is an alpha and that was what troubled her most. Time passed by and she finally excepted the reality just then she herd voices outside the tent tent and the fear shot her again. Then finally Layton stormed in and Gemini's heart raced, he glanced at her then smirked.
  • "So Gemini I believe you know why I called you here." She nodded. Layton sat next to her then spent a while examining her.
  • "I herd you hunt alone which is strange, we all know a wolf without a pack is as good as dead." He then stood up and walked to a little table beside us with a silver tray filled with tall glass cups and a bottle of champagne then pour some in the cup, he walked towards me and handed me the cup.
  • "Thanks." Gemini thanked, she didn't want to deny his offer after all she had never taken alcohol before.
  • "Is something wrong with the drink?" Layton asked as he sipped on his drink.
  • "No." Gemini finally gulped on the drink and Layton couldn't help but chuckle when she squint her eyes due to the sourness. She looked up at him and could admit she loved seeing him smile.
  • "Do you have a family?" He asked as Gemini thought, the only thought that came to her mind was to lie.
  • "No. My parents died when I was young and I have no siblings."
  • "I guess we now have something in common." Gemini thought.
  • "Really? You have no family." She finally spoke out and he nodded.
  • "They passed sometime ago." It was odd for Gemini to see him so calm when he spoke of his parents.
