Chapter 9 Destroy Your Weakness

  • ~ZEPHYR~
  • I stood beside Silver, gazing through the glass panel that offered a clear view of the training area below. I had been watching her training tirelessly for four months, driven by her desire for revenge. I should have announced to everyone that she would become the Luna, but I felt she was not ready yet. For Sapphire, getting revenge on those who had hurt her was her main purpose, which was the same as mine, but even though she was training hard, I believed she was not ready to face her enemies.
  • Silver had kept me informed about her progress, and watching her again through the glass panel showed that she was improving. ‘’I didn’t expect her to adapt so quickly,’’ he commented. ‘’ Sapphire has improved at an astonishing rate.’’
  • I nodded in agreement, impressed by how she swung the stick in her hand. “Revenge can be a powerful motivator. It can change anyone.” That was what it had done to Sapphire.
  • “Isn’t that what you wanted? For her to become strong?”
  • ‘’yes… That is now the issue. Sapphire focuses on revenge, which becomes her greatest weakness.”
  • “explain.”
  • I pointed towards how Sapphire was fighting inside the rain when she should have waited for the rain to stop. “Sapphire’s desire for revenge consumes her,” I continued. “it clouds her judgment and makes her reckless. She is not thinking strategically but acting on emotion. That will get her killed faster. ‘’
  • Silver nodded. “Now I understand,” he sighed. “when will you introduce her to the king?”’
  • I frowned at the mention of the king. Unlike Dane, whom I quickly wanted to eliminate, he was my greatest enemy.
  • “She is not strong enough! She must continue training until she passes the sparring contest.”
  • ’’ I get you, ’’ Silver responded. ''Tristan found some camps of rogues just this morning and went to investigate. Do you think whom you are searching for would be there?’
  • I clenched my fists tightly and closed my eyes. “Even if he is not there, I will search the entire world until I find him.”
  • Silver placed a hand on my shoulder and squeezed it gently. “I hope they find him. With that, your plans will slowly begin to work out.”
  • “I hope so,” I responded, fluttering my eyes open and looking at Sapphire. She had got up again and was effortlessly swinging the stick. She didn’t know when to stop, and that was the exciting thing about her. “I want you to fix the sparring competition in two months.”
  • Silver’s hand on my shoulder dropped. “what? That is too early. The other warriors are strong enough, but what about Sapphire? She is still far behind.”
  • “I am an impatient man, silver,” I told him, and then I started walking away from the glass. I had seen enough, and I wouldn’t say she was perfect yet since she was still dwelling on her revenge.” in two months, I believed that Sapphire is going to become better than this.”
  • “How do you even know that?”
  • I chuckled. “I just know,” I said, placing my hands behind my back and smiling as if I had won a lottery.
  • “what do you think, Wahya?”
  • “Sapphire is training hard; if you believe in her, I do too.” Trust Wahya always to support whatever I say.
  • After that day, I watched her struggle to swing the sticks and fire her arrows at the target daily. She was doing her best, yet she needed to gain the proper technique.
  • One day, while watching her, I saw how frustrated she was with the arrow. I decided to make my presence known. Her arms trembled as she aimed her arrow, and she screamed as she placed her hold tighter on the bow.
  • “Easy,” I muttered into her ear as I stood behind her and placed my hand on hers.
  • She gasped, startled, and turned around to face me. ‘’Alpha,’’she whispered.
  • “Focus on the target,” I placed my hand on her waist and then placed my legs in between hers and then split it apart, making her stand in the right position.” make sure you always focus on the target sapphire and not on other. Destroy the weakness you are holding in.”
  • She suddenly turned to face me. Our eyes met, and I felt my heart racing at an alarming rate; the intensity of her gaze took me aback, and my attention was drawn to her lips, full and inviting.
  • I shouldn’t feel this way.
  • The way she flashed her lashes at me was almost mesmerizing, and I felt the overwhelming urge to kiss her. I leaned in closer, my eyes still focusing on her lips, and whispered. “focus, Sapphire!” My voice came out huskier than intended, and I saw her cheeks flush red.
  • “Yes, alpha,” she quickly turned back to face the target, and then I heaved a sigh of relief, shaking off the unexpected attraction. “Release!” I shouted, and together, we fired the arrow. It soared through the air, hitting the target with accuracy.
  • “I did it!” Sapphire shouted and rushed to hit my hand with a high five, catching me unaware.
  • I smiled at her, and then again, my heart started racing, and my chest felt stronger.
  • “your heart is going to burst anytime soon,” Wahya laughed.
  • ‘’shut up!’’ he laughed again.
  • I turned my attention back to Sapphire, who was still celebrating her success. “not so fast, Sapphire. You are not done yet,” I picked up a stick from the ground and tossed it at her, and then I picked another stick and pointed it at her. “show me what you have learned in the past four months. Defend yourself!” I lunged at her.
  • I expected a fierce counter-attack, but she stood still, her eyes fixed on me. She was supposed to fight back instead of staring at me like that. Frustrated by her lack of response, I struck her on the head. “focus sapphire!”
  • When she didn’t react, I hit her back, sending her to the ground. I towered over her and screamed. “until you stop focusing on revenge as your desire to win, you will never truly fight. You will only be a puppet controlled by your emotions.” I raised my hand to strike her again, but she blocked the blow. Impressive, but her defense was left vulnerable, and I quickly took advantage and struck her on the shoulder.
  • She stumbled again and placed her stick on the ground to stop her falling. I circled her and then pointed the stick at her. “Don’t be carried away by your enemy. They will exploit your weakness,” I kicked her, and she stumbled backward, but as she was about to fall, I grasped her arm, holding her steady. Our eyes met again, and I frowned at her.
  • ‘’Always focus sapphire,’’ I emphasized. ‘’don’t let your emotions cloud your judgement. The enemy wouldn’t hesitate to strike you down,” I kicked her, and she stumbled and fell to the ground.
  • “Remember, Sapphire, fight with your head and not your emotions. “I dropped the stick and turned to leave.
  • “I am going to work harder, alpha!” she shouted, and I smiled.
  • I turned around and frowned at her, even though deep down, I was glad she understood the lessons I had shown her. “Action speaks louder than words, Sapphire. Prove it at the sparring competition.” With that, I walked away, leaving her to ponder my words.
  • Walking back to my office, I couldn’t help but notice the sensation in my chest, and that was not all; I stared in between my legs and noticed that I had grown a boner. I frowned and ruffled my hair. I had not experienced that in a long time, and just one fight with her Gave me a fluttering sensation.
  • “you are under her charm, Zephyr. Admit it.” Wahya chuckled.
  • “shut up, Wahya. There is no way I will ever be like that. We are together for revenge, nothing more.”
  • “Whatever makes you sleep at night.” He teased again and laughed, and I blocked him from my head.
  • There is no way I could be under anyone’s charm. Sapphire and I were together for one purpose.
  • Revenge.
  • That was why I had to put on the whole charade, and growing a boner while fighting was because I see her as a woman, and I had not been that close to any woman in a long time.
  • It was why, or so I thought.
