Chapter 31
- I crossed the border between Denver and the unknown, the forest giving way to open fields and deserted roads. My wolf senses were alert, every sound and scent shaping my path. Seattle became my goal, a distant refuge where I could start anew, away from the shadows of the past.

The choice I made to show her the truth turned against us.
- Throughout the solitary journey, memories of Constance lingered. I missed her, her wise and warm guidance. But there was no time for lamentation.
