Chapter 169 Everyone’s Annoying!
- Gale Bush let out a quiet breath of relief. Guess he’d talked his way through it. If he’d known, he wouldn’t have tossed those seven betrothal letters! He’d come down just to break off an engagement, so he never took those letters seriously. Who would’ve thought a guy like Tang Zhifeng would treat them like gold? Speechless… Totally speechless. Can’t they be more like the Wheeler family? Cut the crap and just pull out the other letter already! “Alright, old man, hand me your betrothal letter.” Gale said. Tang Zhifeng froze. “Lord Gale, what do you mean?” Gale shot him a look. “Move it!!” Tang Zhifeng hurried off to fetch it. After handing it over, Gale ripped it up right in front of him. Then he turned to Paige Morrison. “Paige, that engagement of yours? Done and dusted. You don’t have to worry about any ‘fiancé’ anymore. From now on, do whatever you want.” Tang Zhifeng’s heart clenched hard. Of course he understood Gale’s meaning. This was breaking off the engagement. Paige looked at Tang Zhifeng. “Grandpa, you won’t meddle in my freedom to marry anymore, right?!” Tang Zhifeng sighed. “I won’t. I won’t.” Gale flicked his wrist. “Then I’m out. As for that so-called fiancé, you’ve got plenty of people outside the Morrison manor. Handle it yourselves, yeah?” Tang Zhifeng hurried to stop him. “Lord Gale, didn’t you say Paige is pregnant with your child?!” Gale gave an awkward grin. “I made it up. A fake pregnancy line.” Tang Zhifeng said quickly, “Could you treat it as real?” Gale: “???” Paige: “???” Gale frowned at Paige. “Paige, is your grandpa seriously this opportunistic? He finds out who I am and flips like this? That bad?” Paige was puzzled too. “Grandpa wasn’t like this before!” Tang Zhifeng let out a long breath. “I do want to settle accounts with that fake fiancé, but the power behind him is massive. If the Morrison family tears things up without a backer, if it goes well, we can part ways cleanly. If it goes badly, it’ll be a huge mess.” Gale was speechless. “Paige, is your Morrison family really this weak? You need to tiptoe around just to deal with one idiot?” Paige shook her head, honestly lost. “I’ve always hated that fiancé, so I never bothered with anything about him.” Gale asked, curious, “So do you hate the name ‘Gale Bush,’ or do you hate the guy?” Paige muttered, annoyed, “Both.” “But, Gale, I didn’t mean you.” Gale was exasperated with himself. Why even ask? This silly girl still hadn’t figured it out. She had no idea he was her real fiancé. “So, Lord Gale, do you understand the Morrison family’s situation now? If you’re willing to treat the pregnancy as true, you’ll be helping us.” “If nothing comes up later, we won’t bother you.” “But if something does, we hope you’ll step in.” Tang Zhifeng said respectfully. “Fine, fine… Just don’t go blabbing everywhere that I knocked Paige up. That’d be a pain.” Gale warned. “Understood!” Tang Zhifeng nodded quickly. His face went hard as he called that fake fiancé, ordering him to come back right away. The fake fiancé had planned to find Paige at Ashfield Private Hospital, but he didn’t. Instead, he spotted Gale Bush in the photo board at the Traditional Medicine Department. He knew that face. He hated him. That bastard had busted his face. He pointed at Gale’s photo—no name tag—to a passing nurse and asked, “Where can I find this doctor?” The nurse looked at the picture. “You mean Deputy Director Gale? He usually works mornings. After he sees thirty patients, he’s done for the day. If you want him to treat you, you’ll have to come tomorrow… early. His line is brutal. People queue up before dawn.” The man asked coldly, “So where can I find him otherwise?” The nurse shook her head. “No idea. Oh, right—Ms. Fleet is his Grand Mistress. I can ask her for you. If she doesn’t know, there’s not much I can do.” The man nodded. “Thanks.” The nurse led the way; the man followed. Gianna Fleet happened to be between patients. Hearing the knock, she let them in. The nurse said, “Ms. Fleet, this gentleman is looking for Deputy Director Gale. Handsome, you can tell her yourself.” The nurse really thought he was handsome—though his face still had some healing scars, they didn’t hurt his looks. That’s why she took the initiative. Eye candy like this isn’t common. If it were someone else… forget it. She didn’t have that kind of time. The man took in Gianna Fleet’s delicate features, and desire flared up in him. What a gorgeous woman. Stunning face. Elegant vibe. Killer figure. Imagine how wild she’d be in bed. “Hi. What do you want with my Gale?” Gianna asked. “I—” The man had just opened his mouth when his phone buzzed. Tang Zhifeng was calling, ordering him to come back right away. He hung up and explained to Gianna, “I had something urgent, but something else came up. I have to leave now. I’ll come find him next time.” Gianna nodded, but her brows pinched tight. After he left, she went to the nurses’ station and pointed at his retreating back. She ordered, “Remember what he looks like. If he comes again, block him outside the Traditional Medicine Department. Do not let him in.” “And when you see him, wear masks. Keep at least three feet away.” The nurses were puzzled. “Ms. Fleet, what’s up with that handsome guy?” Gianna’s voice went cold. “He’s carrying Spring Fragrance Powder—a thing that makes women lose themselves and fall, completely.”
