Chapter 501 A Rabble

  • Finneas stepped out in front of everyone, and the crowd started whispering under their breath. Mo Zhonghua’s brows knitted tight. “You reckless brat, move. This is a grudge between my Mo family and the Witch Temple. None of your business!” He flung a hand toward Finneas. A surge of energy swept over Finneas. Even the people standing near him staggered, feet skidding. But Finneas didn’t budge. He just twitched his wrist, and the Witch Temple’s grandmaster behind him stumbled back several steps. People were stunned. What the hell? Someone dared to stand before the Witch Temple’s grandmaster and just make a move? Who was this kid, really? The grandmaster of the Witch Temple gave a bitter smile. He knew: if Finneas took the initiative, it meant these clowns had pushed him too far. And that was the truth. In this mess—Mo Zhonghua’s ambition, A-Gou’s slyness, and the sheer stupidity of the witchcraft crowd—any one alone wouldn’t have lit Finneas up. But piled together? Yeah, he was pissed. The ones who sway the crowd, who poison minds, deserve to die first. But the knife that’s killing people right now? He had to snap it in half. At the same time, Finneas flicked a glance at the hidden helicopter overhead. He allowed the spying—they needed the people on the other side to see exactly what they wanted. Kun City, the Duan residence. A light curtain bloomed in front of Zushen and Nalan Xing, a 3D projection shimmering into shape. It showed Finneas and the others. With their glasses on, the image went fully three-dimensional. It felt like they were right there—looking down from above like they were gods. “Heh. Finneas actually stepped in. I thought he’d sit back and watch the Witch Temple’s grandmaster duke it out with Mo Zhonghua.” Zushen smirked, voice mocking, but the lift of his eyebrow showed he was puzzled. Nalan Xing’s eyes flashed cold. He locked onto Finneas’s face, like he wanted to read his mind clean through. “Lingtian Ci—he’s enraged now.” After a long beat, Nalan Xing spoke in a chill tone. Zushen laughed, gloating. “Enraged? That fast? Good.” His eyes narrowed. “Mo Zhonghua, come on. Show me how much surprise you’ve got.” Outside the hotel. Mo Zhonghua saw his shove meant nothing to Finneas, his face going grave. The witchcraft crowd behind him started jeering again. “Hey, brat, who do you think you are? Get lost!” “Yeah! Don’t be stupid. This is the Witch Temple’s beef with the Mo family. What’s it got to do with you?” “Hmph! If you want to die, pick your time. You don’t have the right to act here.” “Know your place!” As the voices rose, more people focused on Finneas’s face—and surprise spread. “Hey, don’t look down on him. I remember—he’s the champion of this Witchcraft Conference.” “He’s the winner?” “Yeah, that’s him. I remember that face. Even Ji Yunyue couldn’t beat him.” “Not just Ji Yunyue. The last conference’s champion, Shan Han-yi from the Shan family, didn’t even qualify to fight him.” Finneas’s highlights spread, and the mood shifted a bit. But the Witchcraft Conference is just a youth contest. On any other day, that might impress. Not today. People sneered again. “Shan Han-yi? Please. Our Mo leader could wipe out Shan Han-yi’s dad—the Shan family head—without breaking a sweat.” “True. The Shan family head had no chance against our Mo leader.” “Heh. Just a conference champ, and he dares to stick his neck out?” “He’s just trying to be the Witch Temple’s grandmaster’s simp. Comes out to die, doesn’t even know how small he is.” “Hey, kid, get off the stage. Don’t embarrass yourself. You don’t even—ah—” One loudmouth’s face twisted mid-scream, and he shrieked in agony. The crowd jolted back, horrified. Blood-red flame wrapped him, lightning crackling inside it. The sight was pure nightmare. In a heartbeat, he turned to ash and blew away. “D-d-dead?!” “Who did that?!” “H-him! That guy! I saw him kill with that blood flame before! He’s freaky!” The jeers flipped to panic. More eyes locked on Finneas, fear cranking higher. A-Gou watched the man’s wretched end, face going wary as he backed up a few steps. Mo Zhonghua’s expression went ice-cold. “What trick is this?” He couldn’t figure it out. He hadn’t even seen Finneas make a move. People fear what they can’t place, and Mo Zhonghua was no exception. While his gut churned, Finneas swept the crowd, voice flat. “If you don’t want to die, shut up.” The words hit like a hammer, right into their souls. But some fools just can’t stand being ordered around. “You jerk, who do you think—” “Ah!” The insult barely left his mouth before the blood flame swallowed him whole. The flame, shot through with lightning, leaped to another target. Panic exploded. People bolted in all directions. The alliance that had looked so big a minute ago shattered into pure chaos, a rabble with no spine. At the same time, they realized: if you keep your mouth shut, the flame won’t jump to you. So the place went silent. Everyone clamped their lips shut. The only sound left was the blood flame burning. Mo Zhonghua’s face went paper white. What the hell was this? The kid’s methods were creepy as hell.
