• Finally, I thought, watching as the last of my men slipped out of the shadows, their orders clear. Elena was out there somewhere, but not for long. I smiled to myself, feeling a rush of satisfaction. It had taken months of planning, careful manipulation, and biding my time, but I had done it. I had finally gotten rid of that thorn in my side.
