Chapter 9

• My mouth opened and spit out words before I had the chance to engage my brain. It wasn’t until after the words left my mouth that I thought of how they may sound to this rumoured crazy guy. The weird expression on his face evaporated and his gaze hardened. I stilled myself, waiting for him to open his mouth and curse at me but he was silent for a long time; long enough for me to become anxious. My wolf paced, her anxiety heightening mine.
• When he opened his mouth, the voice that flowed out of his mouth was calm.
• “What do you mean?” He looked me square in the eyes, his gaze unwavering and without giving me a chance to hide.
