Chapter 5 I’ve Underestimated You

  • Calvin was a capable and independent man. At the age of eighteen, he graduated from business school and took over the business of the Fullerton family. In just one year, all the projects handled by him had been successful. The next year, he even established his own company, Forbes Group, with the support of Liam.
  • In the past eight years, the Forbes Group grew bigger, surpassing the Fullerton family’s business. Not only that, it seemed that people in the political and commercial circles were afraid of him.
  • In the past, Calvin was an auxiliary of the Fullerton family. However, the Fullerton family had to depend on him now.
  • Calvin worked very hard, and in fact, he spent almost every day in the office. So when he said “Come back now” to Hannah, he must have wanted her to go back to the company.
  • When Hannah arrived at the Forbes Group building, she looked at the tall building and could not help but tremble. What happened recently was like a nightmare. Calvin was a merciless man. Although Calvin did not treat her as well as Liam did in the past, he had taken good care of her. Nonetheless, everything changed after that accident. Calvin had changed from a good brother to a ruthless husband. Not only that, he was cruel to her just like how cruel he was in the business world.
  • The receptionist recognized Hannah. There was a trace of sympathy on her face when she let Hannah in using the staff entrance. Poor girl. She thought she could become a princess, but in the end, she’s still a nobody.
  • “Mr. Fullerton, Ms. Parker is here,” the secretary in front of Calvin’s office informed Calvin as soon as she saw Hannah.
  • Hearing that, Calvin did not correct her. “Hm!” he replied. Nonetheless, he did not tell the secretary to bring Hannah into the office, nor did he forbid her.
  • While the secretary wondered what to do, Hannah nodded her head and pushed the door to Calvin’s office open.
  • The secretary was so horrified that her heart almost stopped beating. “Wait!” she gasped.
  • In the past, anyone who broke into Calvin’s office like that would be driven away at once. The secretary prayed that Calvin would not throw a fit. However, it was silent inside the room after Hannah went in. Not only that, all the office blinds were turned off.
  • Calvin’s office occupied an area of 500 square feet with minimalistic furnishings, and three of the four walls were windows instead. A couch and a cabinet was placed near the door, and Calvin’s desk was on the other end.
  • “Come over here!” Calvin sneered, "Can't you understand what I say?”
  • Hearing that, Hannah had no choice but to move closer.
  • "Aren't you very intimate with another man just now?" Calvin stared at Hannah in disgust. “Why did you pretend to be so unapproachable now, Mrs. Fullerton?”
  • What Calvin said gave Hannah a shock. She tried to stay calm and asked, “You met Jay?”
  • Jay? How close they are! Calvin could not help but muse.
  • "I really underestimated you!”
  • Calvin thought Hannah could not understand the message he had sent her. However, he had no time to send her another message. He was surprised that Hannah understood him. He had to admit Hannah was a smart girl, but why did she still upload those photos on the Internet?
  • Thinking of that, Calvin felt a little confused. It was a little contradictory.
  • Calvin raised his head. Although he had known Hannah for twelve years, it was the first time he looked at her in the way a man looked at a woman. “Is Jay important to you?” he asked and approached her step by step.
  • Confined in the corner, Hannah could not move. After thinking for a while, she had no choice but to nod honestly.
  • “What do you think will happen if he sees the video?” Calvin sniggered and knocked his knuckles on the table. “The video is more interesting than those photos, you know?”
  • “Vin, I… I didn’t post the photos on the Internet. It was not me!”
  • "What did you call me?" Calvin grabbed Hannah’s chin and asked, "Those photos only showed my face, and you’re perfectly hidden. If it's not you, then who is it?"
  • Hearing that, Hannah could not help but tremble with anger. She could not believe what Calvin had just said. It seemed that he did not trust her at all.
  • Nonetheless, the anger on Hannah’s face suddenly faded. "Please, don't share the video.”
  • It would be devastating to Hannah if the video leaked out. She could never live a normal life again. Jay, who alway treated her as a good friend, would be disappointed. She could not afford to ruin her life just like that.
  • However, Calvin was even more furious when Hannah begged him. Isn’t she stubborn? Why is she begging me for another man now?
  • “Please, I beg you!” Hannah grasped Calvin’s sleeve tightly as she begged in despair. At that moment, Hannah looked like the small girl Calvin knew ten years ago. Suddenly, he felt his heart ache like it was pricked by a needle. She didn't beg for mercy that night in the basement. Why is she begging me now? Is Jay so important to her? Calvin wondered.
  • Suddenly, the phone in Calvin’s pocket vibrated. As soon as he wanted to take it out to take a look, Hannah held his neck and kissed him.
  • Hannah was quivering. What happened seemed worse than last night. She was sober but she had no choice but to try her last chance. She was not good at kissing, but at least, she was serious.
  • Calvin smirked. Is she trying to stop me by kissing me?
  • Calvin hated Hannah. He hated her because of her willfulness, and her insidious schemes. However, he did not push her away. Not only that, he pressed his lips harder against hers and even gradually kissed her back.
  • When Calvin realized what he was doing, he bit Hannah’s lip. The smell of blood then spread into his mouth. He pushed Hannah away quickly and berated, "Get out!”
  • The kiss worked. Knowing that Calvin was not going to share the video, Hannah felt relieved. However, she could not leave yet. She still had to ask him about what happened at the school.
  • Calvin looked at Hannah with a frown. His jaw looked as cold as ice, and his lips were pursed into a thin line.
  • "I..." When Hannah was about to say something, Calvin glared at her, his eyes full of disgust. Suddenly, Hannah was speechless. She could not even utter a word.
  • "What else do you want?" Calvin snickered and turned the pen in his hand. The tip of the pen gently fell on the paper, leaving a thick black dot. "Didn't you have enough last night?”
  • Hearing that, Hannah’s ears were burning.
  • Calvin then stood up from his seat and walked toward Hannah. He knew what was on her mind. "If you serve me well tonight, you can resume back to work as usual."
  • Hannah felt Calvin’s warm breath on her neck. Instantly, she lost the ability to resist. Calvin's aura was too strong, and not only that, he was so scary. At that moment, Hannah wished she could run away.
  • On the other hand, Jay received a message in the car. "Stay away from her.” It was Calvin who sent him the message.
