Chapter 18 Completing a Procedure

  • Hannah suddenly blushed. Jay realized he had misspoken, so he changed the topic quickly. “Let’s go. You promised to treat me. It’s too late to regret it now.”
  • Jay was always a considerate man. The only thing was, he needed to endure everything alone.
  • Hannah followed behind him and asked, “Why did you visit our school today?”
  • “To complete a procedure.”
  • “What procedure?”
  • “The employment procedure.”
  • “What? Are you going to work here?”
  • “Yes. I’m just surprised that you won’t be working here anymore.” Jay always had no interest in his family business. He didn’t plan to take up any positions in his family’s company even though he was already back in the country.
  • He liked working in the school because of the environment. Since Hannah was working here as well, he quickly applied when he saw the vacancy.
  • However, Hannah had already been dismissed.
  • “Do you still feel like coming back to the school to work?”
  • Hannah answered passionately, “Of course!” Then, she lowered her head and said, “Calvin won’t agree to it though.”
  • She knew the only way possible was to serve him well. It was her first experience in the basement that night, but it was a humiliating and miserable one. It felt like a nightmare to her. She could never do it again.
  • “Just leave it to me.” Jay said gently, “I will do my best to help you do the things you want to do.” He added, “It’s worth it since you gave me a lot of happy memories when I was young.”
  • “Still, Calvin is…”
  • Jay saw through her worries. He gave her a comforting and reassuring smile, “I’m not that weak. Hannah, don’t be afraid of him.”
  • You are a brave, pure and free girl. Your brilliance should not be shrouded by a baseless murder accusation. Those were the words Jay couldn’t say.
  • They went to an old revolving restaurant serving French cuisine. Jay used to dine here with his friends before he went to study abroad. It was a place where you could see the whole Greenville at night.
  • Meanwhile, at the mansion.
  • Calvin didn’t see Hannah after he went back.
  • Mrs. Wright said, “Ma’am hasn’t returned yet.”
  • “She hasn’t returned even though she went out in the afternoon?”
  • “I called her. She said she won’t be coming back because she is having dinner with a friend.”
  • “Which friend?”
  • “A certain Mr. Miller.” Mrs. Wright answered, “She sounded quite happy.”
  • “When did she tell you that?”
  • “Just now.”
  • When Mrs. Wright turned around, Calvin was no longer there. She ran out after picking up the coat on the sofa, “Sir, where are you going? Your coat!”
  • However, Calvin already drove out. He called Ciel, “Track down Hannah immediately.”
  • Ciel executed his orders immediately. Calvin received Hannah’s location within a minute. He called Cindy and asked her, “Are you free?”
  • Cindy suppressed her excitement and replied, “Why?”
  • “Have a meal with me. I’ll pick you up in ten minutes.”
  • Cindy agreed without hesitation.
  • Before she left the house, she called her agent. She didn’t need to know the reason why Calvin asked her out. The result was what matters. She wanted to maximize her benefits at the end of the day.
  • Besides Calvin’s heart, she also wanted money and fame.
  • Meanwhile, at the restaurant.
  • Hannah was having the meal of her lifetime. The food and wine were amazing. She was also laughing at the interesting stories Jay told her.
  • The chef shouted all of a sudden, “Mr. Fullerton!” The proud chef would only address one person as Mr. Fullerton in Greenville, Calvin.
  • Hannah turned around to look when she heard the chef’s voice. She saw Cindy standing beside him.
  • They sat at the table beside her.
  • Calvin looked at Jay and said, “It’s been a long time.”
  • The rich families of Greenville always met each other during social events. Calvin and Jay used to meet each other when they were children.
  • Jay replied with a smile, “It’s been a long time.”
  • Calvin pulled the chair for Cindy and gave her a menu, “Just order anything you want.”
  • Cindy looked at Hannah with disdain as she said to the waiter, “Just give me your signature dish.”
  • She was not worried about other people discovering her identity. A few people even approached her to ask her for her autograph which she happily complied.
  • Hannah thought Calvin and Cindy looked good together and hinted at Jay. Both of them smiled.
  • Calvin was unhappy when he saw their interactions. He asked Hannah with a frown, “Why didn’t you go home to eat dinner tonight?”
  • Since Calvin was sitting straight and facing Cindy, Hannah didn’t realize that the question was for her, so she asked Jay, “Are you done? If you’re done, let’s go.”
  • Hannah could no longer eat when she saw his husband eating with another woman. What made her angrier was the fact that both of them looked good together.
  • Jay nodded, “Let’s go.”
  • Calvin asked Hannah, “Didn’t you hear me asking you a question?
  • “What?” Hannah stared at him in disbelief, “Weren’t you talking to Cindy?”
  • “Mrs. Fullerton, you are really shameless.”
  • All four of them were shocked. Even Calvin was surprised at how he addressed Cindy naturally as Mrs. Fullerton.
  • Hannah replied, “Mr. Fullerton, did I cause trouble for you in any way?”
  • Calvin asked again, “Why didn’t you eat at home today?”
  • “Why aren’t you eating at home today then?”
  • It’s all because of you!
  • Calvin almost said that, but he kept his cool as he said, "Can’t you see for yourself?"
