Chapter 1

  • How far can a woman endure the humiliation and abuse from her husband?
  • Katerin Aniston, wife of Larry Ellison, is subjected to the most cruel and degrading abuse, the kind that can crush a woman’s spirit.
  • “I’m so sorry, Mrs. Ellison,” the doctor says regretfully, having witnessed Katerin’s insistence on giving her husband another child.
  • “Doctor, it’s not fair. I did everything you asked,” she says, her voice filled with sadness.
  • “I was very clear, Mrs. Ellison, that you’re no longer physically capable of having another child. Please, I recommend you don’t try again. The only one hurting here is you, not your husband,” the doctor tries to convince her. But seeing her remain silent, he sighs. “We need to perform the abortion immediately. If the baby stays dead inside you, you risk a serious infection.”
  • As night falls, Katerin returns home, feeling sore and deeply sorrowful. Yet, she must cook.
  • “Mom where were you?” asks Emily, her eldest daughter, who is not Larry’s.
  • When Emily notices her mother hasn’t responded, she turns to look her in the eyes.
  • “Why are you crying, Mom? What happened?” the girl asks nervously.
  • “I lost it. I lost the baby,” Katerin breaks down in tears.
  • "What did you say?" Larry suddenly appears. Katerin's heart races a thousand miles an hour.
  • "I..." Katerin can't utter a word, as Larry, furious, grabs her with the hair.
  • "Let her go, don’t hit her!" Emily exclaims, frantic.
  • Larry releases Katerin, but only to grab Emily and drag her out of the kitchen. He locks the door behind her, and Emily starts banging on it relentlessly, crying in desperation, shouting at him not to hurt her mother.
  • "Larry..." Katerin says, her hands trembling. The poor woman is so thin from the cruel life her husband has subjected her to.
  • Larry grabs her by the neck.
  • "Did you lose another baby?" he asks, filled with arrogance, as Katerin cries, not because she fears he will hit her, but because it was the baby of her estranged hopes.
  • "It wasn’t my fault," she says weakly, and Larry strikes her with a powerful slap before throwing her to the ground.
  • "You’re a woman who’s good for nothing, you can’t give me the children I ask for. I don’t want girls, and you gave me a damn bastard daughter. I need another son, and you can’t even give me that. You’re good for nothing, you’re a worthless thing that can’t give birth. Look at Max, he doesn’t even respect me because of you. How I hate you, I despise you. Your presence disgusts me." Larry kicks Katerin violently.
  • "Don’t hit me anymore, Larry," she gasps, but a blow to her abdomen tears her apart completely.
  • He steps toward her and grabs her with the hair.
  • "My mistress is a better woman than you. You’re good for nothing, just worthless. You should just die already."
  • Larry grabs a knife.
  • "Nooooo!" Emily screams, banging on the door.
  • "Think... Think about the children, Larry," she says with difficulty.
  • "You’re a curse in my life; you should never have existed. I’m an important millionaire and I don’t have a beautiful woman and children in my womb like a normal person." Larry kicks her again.
  • "I’ll call the police!" Emily shouts.
  • Which is not convenient for Larry, as it is an important company in the stock market.
  • "You’ve killed our children with your beatings," Katerin says with difficulty, feeling a burning sensation in her abdomen.
  • "You blame me for how weak you are? You’re a bastard!" Larry kicks her again, then throws the knife against the wall in a fit of rage. He opens the door, and there stands Emily, her face soaked with tears.
  • "Call the police, it’s my word against yours. You eat and live for free in my house, now you’ll pay me back for everything I’ve invested in you, filthy bastard. You’re going to marry."
  • "You don’t have my blood. You’ve lived with my family for so many years. Now, she must pay my family back. She’s already agreed with her fiancé that when she turns 18, she’ll marry Mr. Roldán, he’s the major shareholder of the meat processing plant here."
  • "You’re crazy!" Emily screams, watching her mother struggle to rise from the floor.
  • "That old man could be his grandfather! Are you going to sell my daughter?!" Katerin intervenes, feeling her legs tremble and her body aching.
  • "Stupid woman! I did it for her own good! Your eldest daughter is nothing but a bastard. She’ll marry a rich man, and you’re still not happy with that! Ungrateful woman!" Larry points at her.
  • "I’ve worked so hard for so many years to give you two children; can’t you forgive my eldest daughter for her own good? She has her own life!" Katerin speaks desperately.
  • "Don’t contradict me! I’m telling you, as soon as she turns 18, someone will come for her, and if you interfere with my plans, I won’t hesitate to make you pay the price."
  • Larry had everything planned in his mind: he would sell his stepdaughter just in time to secure an investment to expand the company.
  • Fear consumes Emily as she looks at her mother, filled with anxiety. Katerin, having been a faithful and submissive wife to Larry, kneels before him.
  • "I’ll try to give you another child, but please, don’t force my daughter, I beg you," Katerin cries uncontrollably.
  • "What part of ‘don’t contradict me’ don’t you understand?!" Larry slaps Katerin hard.
  • Emily pushes him forcefully, and he turns on the poor girl to hit her.
  • "Father, no!" Max, the 8-year-old boy, screams as he witnesses the traumatic scenes.
