  • “Oh. Pictures I took. I used to think I was a brilliant photographer.” She laughed nervously, closed the book and glanced at her watch. “We should probably go to the supermarket if we want to—”

Gran and Grandad kept this album here. It was old-fashioned, but she was glad they did. She watched critically, page after page, seeing both the promise and the limitations. Looking at the pictures now was like seeing an old friend and regretting having lost touch.
