Chapter 9 The Revelation of Truth

  • Yamila's face turned extremely ugly. Just now, she had also seen the scene outside.
  • The current Collinses are no longer what they used to be. All the families were sucking up to them. They surely wouldn't tolerate the bride running away.
  • Nova approached step by step, saying, "Yamila, give me the phone. Go out and get married obediently, or else don't blame me for calling for backup!"
  • Yamila stepped back, each step a retreat. Suddenly, the phone chimed with a message.
  • "Give me back my phone!"
  • Yamila quickly glanced at it, her face instantly paling.
  • My uncle has already dispatched the Iron Eightguard from the White Financial Group to capture Leon. I'll make him come to my wedding, watching me marry that wench with his own eyes!'
  • Reading that message, Yamila's face was drained of colour. It was no secret that the Collinses had allied with the White Financial Group. And Leon? He was just a penniless guy from the mountains. If they decided to go after him, he wouldn't stand a chance.
  • Yamila's expression soured.
  • The Iron Eightguard!
  • As a Lunaria native, who hadn't heard of their reputation?
  • They were the top Iron Eightguard in the whole province, the White Financial Group's ace enforcers!
  • It was these eight individuals who put the White Financial Group on the map.
  • With such a big business, it was bound to ruffle some feathers among the shady types out there.
  • But it was precisely these same eight people who had kept the White Financial Group firmly in control, deterring anyone from messing with them.
  • Taking on Leon with the Iron Eightguard was like bringing a cannon to a knife fight—total overkill!
  • Yamila tightened her fists, feeling a rush of concern.
  • At that moment, Samuel stormed in through the door, his brows furrowing at the sight.
  • Nova hurriedly filled him in, and Samuel's face turned grim.
  • "Now that you know the truth, there's no need for pretence. Guests are waiting outside, so get out there and proceed with the ceremony."
  • Looking pale, Yamila said, "Samuel, c-can you spare Leon?"
  • Samuel paused for a moment, then frowned, his tone cold. "What did you say? Are you pleading for that country bumpkin?"
  • Yamila gritted her teeth.
  • She brazen it out and said, "Yeah! I'm begging for him. Can't you just let him off for my sake?"
  • Samuel's face twisted in displeasure. His woman pleading for another man was an insult to him!
  • Samuel said icily, "You want me to spare him? Fine, beg me."
  • Yamila shuddered, biting her lip until it bled, staining her teeth red.
  • She collapsed on the ground.
  • "Please spare Leon! I'll promise you anything if you just let him go!"
  • Suddenly, Samuel burst into laughter. "Hahaha! What a pathetic woman!"
  • With that, Samuel's expression turned ferocious in an instant, and he slapped Yamila across the face.
  • A loud smack echoed as a clear handprint appeared on Yamila's cheek.
  • "You wench!" Samuel couldn't contain his rage. Unsatisfied with just one slap, he delivered another slap across her face.
  • "B*tch!"
  • "Sl*t!"
  • "W*nch!"
  • Yamila received several back-to-back slaps, each one leaving her mouth bloody and her face burning with pain.
  • Despite the agony, she stayed silent.
  • With each slap, Yamila remained unmoving, her eyes determined, and her demeanour eerily composed, almost unnerving.
  • After a series of slaps, Samuel, exhausted, rubbed his wrist.
  • He spoke in a cold tone, "You wench, get out there and get married. I'll let that poor guy off the hook!
  • "And from now on, you better serve me well at home. Don't you dare ask about any other women I have outside, got it?"
  • With that, Samuel openly embraced Nova.
  • A glimmer of despair flashed in Yamila's eyes as she nodded silently.
  • Perhaps this was her fate.
  • Luckily, she could use whatever little power she had to ensure Leon's safety. With that, she'd have no regrets in this lifetime.
  • Samuel snorted. "Quick, fix your makeup. Guests outside have been waiting too long. Don't make everyone wait!"
  • Nova leaned into Samuel's embrace, teasingly saying, "Mr. Samuel, don't be so grumpy. Come on, let me help you cool off."
  • With that, Nova rubbed against him.
  • Samuel caught on right away and nodded, his expression easing up a bit.
  • "Let's go. There's a guest room next door."
  • As they left the room, arm in arm, Samuel glanced back and added, "You wench, make sure you do your makeup properly. Don't let the guests see through it!"
  • The two of them exited the room and headed straight to the next guest room. Soon, Nova's disgusting voice could be heard.
  • Yamila sat in front of the vanity, tears streaming down her face like raindrops.
  • She could already imagine the days ahead, feeling like a zombie as she slumped in her chair, staring emptily at her reflection in the mirror, her mind blank.
  • Slowly, Yamila picked up the phone from the table and dialled Leon's number.
  • "Hello, Nova?" She used Nova's phone, so Leon thought it was hers.
  • "Leon, it's me."
  • Hearing Yamila's voice, Leon first felt excited, then grew indifferent.
  • "Oh, what do you want?"
  • Yamila paused, her voice trembling as she said, "I'm sorry. I misunderstood you.
  • "It's my lack of trust in you. Thank you for being good to me over the past ten years.
  • "I cherish every moment we've shared together.
  • "Even though you have no money or power, I still wanted to be your wife.
  • "But I guess luck wasn't on our side, and fate didn't favour us.
  • "Maybe in the next life ...
  • "In the next life, you must marry me.
  • "Well, goodbye."
  • Before Leon could say anything, Yamila hung up the phone.
  • At this moment, she was determined.
  • She grabbed a fruit knife from the table, concealed it in her sleeve, and prepared for the wedding!
  • ...
  • Next door. After their session, Nova helped Samuel get dressed.
  • "Mr. Samuel, are you really going to let Leon off like this?" Nova asked.
  • Samuel chuckled coldly. "Let him off?
  • "What a joke!
  • "Even at this point, that b*tch is still thinking about that broke dude. If I don't thoroughly humiliate him now, it'll be hard to ease my anger!
  • "I've already sent the Iron Eightguard to capture him. I want him to witness everything with his own eyes!"
  • ...
  • On the other side, Leon's expression turned grim, and his brows furrowed in confusion.
  • Why was Yamila's call so strange?
  • It sounded like a farewell?
  • Talking about the next life?
  • It was as if she were making arrangements for the future!
  • Leon sensed something was wrong and immediately instructed John to find out what was going on.
  • John quickly reported, "Mr. Leon, Young Madam, is currently having a grand wedding ceremony with Samuel. Samuel's uncle is the vice president of our company, and he's actually sending the Iron Eightguard to come after you!"
  • Hearing this, Leon was instantly furious!
  • That scoundrel, Samuel, never learns!
  • Yamila must have intentionally said those things that day, wanting to cut ties with Leon completely.
  • From Leon's understanding of her, Yamila was definitely not someone who loved wealth and despised poverty. Otherwise, she wouldn't have been with Leon from the beginning.
  • And Yamila must be feeling pressured right now, that was why she said goodbye like that, probably preparing to seek death!
  • Leon abruptly rose to his feet, his aura carrying a murderous intent.
  • The Collinses don't know how to behave, so they no longer have a reason to exist.
  • "The Iron Eightguard!"
  • "Yes, sir!"
  • "Follow me to the Collinses's wedding ceremony!"
