Chapter 13
- The moment I stepped through the grand entrance of Blackwood Academy’s main hall, the atmosphere felt distinct. This was no ordinary school event. The air buzzed with anticipation, a blend of soft exchanges, the clicking of polished shoes against marble floors, and the faint strains of orchestral music drifting from the main ballroom. The academy had spared no effort in making the ceremony feel as prestigious as the reputation it upheld, crystal chandeliers, velvet-draped seating, and banners displaying the names of this year’s top scholars.

- My gaze moved instinctively, scanning the crowd, searching. But then I caught myself, inhaling sharply, forcing focus. This was about my work, my accomplishments and the opportunities they’d unlock. I moved through the hall with measured steps, sensing the burden of curious stares and veiled resentment.
