Chapter 7

  • Kaylan could feel her heart neck as he whispered those words. The gem..! So, he knows about it as well? And was it something that important? Why else was he asking for I?
  • She went mute, fear coursing through her, but she tried not to show it.
  • "I don't... know about any gem" she finally said, her mind drifting to the woods where she'd buried it.
  • Zane could feel a twitch in his mood and went round to stand in front of her. He'd turned...angrier.
  • Kaylan, looking up at him, was surprised when she found a young fine man standing in front of her. So, he'd been the one talking?
  • "I'd advise you not to try my patience, Kaylan" he squatted in front of her, having his eyes stare into hers.
  • "We're talking about your freedom here. Give me the gem and I'll consider setting you free"
  • A short silence; Kaylan was diving in an ocean of confusion.
  • She couldn't tell why did didn't feel like releasing the gem. If her mother had kept it hidden, then it should be pretty important.
  • "Talk to me, Kaylan" he grabbed her hair and yanked it roughly, making her wince.
  • "Your mother had it with her and that's the reason you're camp was attacked. I need that gem, Kaylan. Where is it?"
  • '"I swear, I don't know!" She cried out.
  • "If my mother had it, she wouldn't tell me about it. Please.... I'm telling the truth...!"
  • Zane's eyes glinted. The gem was not with her??? Then, where could it be?? Where the heck could Sapphire had hidden it? Damn it!
  • Something that dropped from his nose immediately, down to Kaylan's shirt. It was blood..! His nose was bleeding.
  • Kaylan also noticed and he sniffed and stood up immediately.
  • Using the back of his palm, he wiped off the bloodstain and stormed out of the room.
  • Two boys were positioned outside his door.
  • "Make sure no one steps into the room" he stated coldly to them and walked away.
  • *
  • *
  • He walked into his room and rushed to stand in front of the mirror, checking out the bleeding nose. A small line of blood was still rolling out and he sniffed it in. Why was he bleeding yet? It isn't meant to get to this stage yet. Not now.
  • "Darci!" He called on the boy standing outside his door and he came running in at once.
  • "Boss" the boy called.
  • He was one of the omegas in the pack.
  • Zane didn't bother looking at him as he fixed his gaze on the mirror while wiping the blood off.
  • "Get me Manchalla" he finally said.
  • *********************
  • "FOOLS!!!" Alpher Jasper rasped as he kicked the table beside him.
  • His messengers were standing in front of him-their heads bowed in disappointment.
  • "All you had to do was a simple job-a very simple job! Get the Hunter's daughter. But, you ruined it...! Let her slip through your fingers and now, Zane has her!!" He cursed.
  • "We're sorry, Alpha" the first one muttered.
  • That was Jasper's beta.
  • "We tried fighting him at the bar, but he killed Jacey and Marcos. I was the only one lucky enough to survive".
  • Immediately, Jasper took out his pocket knife and marched towards him.
  • His beta didn't move but just stood with his head bowed. It was pointless to try running away from Jasper.
  • Alpha Jasper, getting to where he was, lifted the knife to his neck like he could split his throat at any point.
  • "If it isn't for the history between us, I'd have slashed your throat and fed your bones to the dogs".
  • He glared hard at him and brought the knife down from his throat.
  • "Get out of my sight! All of you!!" He yelled and the three of them all bowed and left.
  • Damn it! He howled and kicked the table again. Why did he have to lose her??
  • For days since the Hunters' camp was attacked, he's been trying so hard to get her. If only he knew, he'd have gone for her himself, just like Zane did. Why did he have to relent?
  • He wanted that girl; he needed her so badly! Any moment from now, the witches would be there. What does he tell them?
  • What can he possibly do to get the Hunter's daughter from Zane's custody?
