- Mum was around at breakfast so I couldn't talk to Chris about tonight although I kept giving him looks, but he just smiled at me and carried on eating his porridge. After last night's horrible dream I needed a bit of reassurance, but I didn't get any and I drove off to school feeling sad and lonely.
- But when I looked at my phone in the mid-morning break, there was a message from Chris that just said, "Looking forward to tonight! Are you protected?" and suddenly the sun seemed to come out and I was the girl who was going to lose her virginity that evening and with my wonderful brother, too! I messaged back, "Me too and yes".
- The evening dragged on for what seemed like days. The three of us ate at seven, in accordance with my mother's instructions, and afterwards I cleaned up and loaded the dishwasher. At eight-thirty I joined mum and Chris in the lounge and we watched a moderately entertaining film on the big flat-screen TV. It was probably a really great film but I couldn't really concentrate. Mum and Chris were sitting together on a three-seater settee and I was in a single chair. They weren't up close, or touching or anything, but I felt tendrils of jealousy and visions of last night's nightmare flittered across my vision. Had anything ever happened between them, I wondered? It would have been easy to conceal in this house. Our mother clearly had some dark attraction to Chris, and she was a strong and determined woman. I saw a picture in my mind of Alex, whipping mum as she lay strapped to her bed. Except it wasn't Alex, it was Chris and she was saying, 'Harder, darling! Whip your naughty Mummy harder!'
