Chapter 2 I Don't Want The Work
- All the anger that she had tried getting rid off as she fought her heartbreak came rushing in.
 - And she felt like she could run to him and beat him up to death.
 - But she clenched her fists, trying to calm herself down, just like she had always done with her parents.
 - "Miss?" Brett called again in confusion. Why did she stop like that? And she seemed angry, like she wanted to beat up his boss. Did they two know each other?
 - Usually, he had witnessed cases of women staring at his boss like that. And that was because the man was so handsome.
 - But today, it felt kind of different. The boss was staring back.
 - But he was calm as the woman stared daggers at him. Could someone tell him what that was happening?
 - Rubby came back to her senses. At the same time, President Fredrick pulled away his gaze and looked at his computer, like nothing had happened.
 - Rubby assumed him too. But she had already gotten a bad premonition about everything.
 - Did Lee call her here to give her a job? Was it his plan or was it was just coincidence?
 - Whatever! So what if he was her ex? If she got the work, she was going to do it.
 - It was just that she wanted nothing to do with him anymore. She had promised herself never to go looking for him.
 - "Sorry," she apologized with a smile and walked forward, taking the seat that Brett offered.
 - Brett could sense some tenseness in the air. And he was not sure of what that was happening.
 - Did the boss not recommend the woman himself? What was with that cold look on his face?
 - "Boss..." Brett called. He needed to clear the air now.
 - "Give her the contract," President Fredrick said without raising his head to look at them.
 - "Um... Yeah! Yeah!" Brett nodded awkwardly and handed the contract to Ruby. Were they not going to exchange even greetings alone?
 - Ruby calmly took the contract from Brett and scanned her eyes through it. What she wanted was work, nothing else.
 - But she froze when she saw that contents of the contract. She rubbed her eyes and looked at it again. Was she seeing her own things?
 - She raised her eyes and looked at Brett. "Is this for me?" She asked. Were they sure that they had not given her the wrong thing?
 - And Brett flashed her a broad smile. "Of course! Of course! It is for you. Just take your time to go through it..."
 - Ruby creased her brows. "A nanny?" She asked. "I do not want to be a nanny..."
 - Brett tensed up when she said that. That was true, they had not told her the job that they were going to offer her beforehand.
 - And it was all the boss's doing! Why was he not saying anything now?
 - "Uh... Why?" He asked. "I think it is a good job... In fact, you are getting paid well..."
 - Rubby scoffed. "I thought that nothing good was awaiting me here," she said. The moment she saw Lee, she knew things were not well.
 - President Fredrick looked up for the first time when she said that. And Brett tensed up even more.
 - Why was the girl playing hard? Anyone like her would accept the work.
 - "Miss, actually..."
 - "Thank you," Ruby replied and tried to stand up. "I think I am more qualified than just being a nanny."
 - How the hell did they come up with the idea of giving her a nanny job?
 - But she was more surprised. She was being offered a contract of being a nanny to a four year old boy.
 - And more interesting, the child was Lee's. Huh! She almost laughed out loud.
 - They broke up five years ago, but right now, he had a four year old kid?
 - And he wanted her to nurse that child! Such an audacity!
 - Was he not satisfied with hurting her back then? Did he want to step on her more? To suppress her?
 - "Miss... Can we talk about it?" Brett tried talking to her. But Rubby shook her head.
 - "I am not qualified to work here," she said and shot Lee a hateful look. "But still, I want a decent job!"
 - And she took her handbag ready to leave. She should have known that nothing came that easily.
 - "What are your conditions?" Someone spoke up just as she took a step towards the door. And she was sure that that was not Brett.
 - She slowly turned to look at the man seated comfortably on the chair and even swinging around.
 - "Huh?" She asked. It was the first time she was talking to him since five years ago.
 - "Name the condition!" President Fredrick said. "For you to accept the job..."
 - "Tsk tsk," Rubby chuckled. "Mr President, I am sorry, I do not want to be a nanny!" She said.
 - Brett trembled. No one had ever been that rude to the president. Did that tiny girl want to die?
 - "Miss Hayley... We can double the pay if you want," he said. He knew how choosy the president was when it came to his son.
 - And now that he chose this lady, and she was trying to turn him down, there was going to be trouble.
 - And Rubby pursed her lips at him. "Mister..." She called. "I do not know what part of my statement was not clear... But I will repeat it," she said.
 - She looked at Lee again and rolled her eyes. What did he have up his sleeves?
 - What did he want from her exactly? Was he not satisfied of making things so hard for her?
 - "I came here thinking that I would work at the company, but since I can't, I think I have to leave. Find someone more suitable for the job!"
 - Brett swallowed hard. And he looked at the president. And he too creased his brows when he saw that the man was just too calm.
 - He wanted to say something more, but Lee raised his hands to stop him.
 - "Take both jobs then," he said, a small smile at the corner of his lips.
