• “You seemed to have a history with her,” Ella said in a low voice. “You know each other like old friends or were in a relationship once.” Reid held her chin, so she could look at him. “Looking at someone you don’t know is different from looking at someone you know and are aware of their past.”

• Ella shrugged, “I’m not sure if I should be jealous.” She glanced at Reid. “It was like you were feeling something. I think you’re worried, and I’m sure Mr. Alfonso saw that from how you looked at Ruth earlier.” Ella averted her eyes from him. “Why do you look at her that way? Are you worried? Is it because their marriage might fail? Or do you know her well enough to know what she likes?”
