Chapter 13 Apologies

  • At Moonlight Club, Qiao Yuqi pushed open the door to a private room and massaged her throbbing temples.
  • She had no idea how long this client would take for tonight.
  • It'd been more than a month since Qiao Yuqi officially started working after signing a written pledge with Mo Jingwen.
  • Mo Jingwen had arranged for Qiao Yuqi to work in the business department as a manager, which seemed perfect on the surface, but in reality, she was just a tool.
  • She had to personally follow up all the cases, and socialize with the guests until late at night.
  • But it didn't matter to Qiao Yuqi who desperately wanted to get away from Mo Jingwen. The more orders she received, the sooner she could leave the Mo family.
  • After freshening herself with water and feeling better, Qiao Yuqi came out to the battlefield.
  • As soon as she arrived at the door of a private room, she saw a voluptuous woman, hanging to a man like a boneless person as they walked over. And that man, was Mo Jingwen.
  • Qiao Yuqi was already immune to it. It was when she started working outside that she realized the unpleasant information she'd gotten on Mo Jingwen in the past was just a drop in the bucket. His real deeds were uncountable.
  • As she was about to walk over, the woman twisted her ankle, lunging toward Qiao Yuqi.
  • Luckily, Qiao Yuqi was swift to take a step back, barely dodging it.
  • But the woman had it worse. She was sprawling on the ground, wearing a ten centimeters high heels and a pair of miniskirts. And Mo Jingwen simply turned a blind eye.
  • As she rose to her feet, she took out her embarrassment-induced anger at Qiao Yuqi.
  • “Watch where you're going, woman! Instead of knocking me with your eyes wide opened... Jingwen, look at me. There's a bruise on my leg.”
  • Qiao Yuqi was amused. “Are you serious, miss? It's obvious that you were the one who knocked onto me.”
  • Before the woman could retaliate, the door to the private room behind opened, where Qiao Yuqi's assistant came out. Upon noticing Mo Jingwen's presence, the assistant greeted politely, “Mr. Mo, are you here to see young mistress?”
  • The woman looked stunned as her gaze shifted between Mo Jingwen and Qiao Yuqi.
  • Women like them tended to observe and they were good at it. Seeing Mo Jingwen cold response to Qiao Yuqi, she became bold again.
  • “Gosh, so you're the mistress that Jingwen always talked about? Why don't you go help Jingwen serve his guests instead of hanging around outside?”
  • Her assistant frowned, “Miss, what nonsense are you talking about?”
  • Qiao Yuqi motioned with her hand to stop her assistant. “Go in first, I'll handle this.”
  • When the assistant left, Qiao Yuqi looked coldly at the smug woman before her and retorted, “I didn't know that it's possible for a nameless third wheeler to be this arrogant in this world.”
  • “You...” The woman clenched her teeth. “Please, at least Jingwen truly cares about me, but what about you? Aww, thank you for entertaining clients in the middle of night to earn money for Jingwen and me.”
  • Slap!
  • Qiao Yuqi slapped on that woman's cheek remorselessly.
  • “This slap is a reminder to educate you to keep your mouth shut if you don't know how to speak. Me, earning money for the both of you? Do you mean to say that Mo Jingwen is just a pretty boy who rely on a woman to earn money to support his family?”
  • Sure enough, Mo Jingwen's expression turned dark.
  • Fear gripped over the woman as she hastily consoled Mo Jingwen. “She purposely misinterpreted my words, Jingwen. I don't mean that.”
  • “I understand, but she was right. Your speech was inappropriate. It's better to apologize!”
