• Bethany sat on the tiled area by the foot of the tub. “Leone told me that Michael,” she touched her cheek, “and his scar have something to do with Willis Hubert, Nelson and his sister Eunice and a girl—” she looked at me then to Daxx, “years ago.”
• “Vengeance and heartache. Great this could get messy.” Daxx said, then put her head back and sighed.
• Alona stood beside the tub, still looking down at me. “If I could give you blood to heal, I would without hesitation.” She frowned. “I have the healing saliva. I’ve been working my way up to deciding if I could lick another woman’s mouth—” she sighed, “it’s not going well.”
