Chapter 8 Rival Company

• Alex's point of view:
• The taxi stopped me in front of Daniel corporation.
• I paid the driver and got out and sighed.
• If this doesn't work I was screwed, however I wasn't bothered about that but I was damn annoyed.
• I can't stay quiet.
• Something told me to head back ,but no I took a step forward and then another one , as I walked into Daniel corporation company building.
• I had a cold expression on my face, as I stepped into the company building and employees of the company were pointing fingers at me.
• They didn't even try to hide the fact that I wasn't welcomed here.
• "Is it that the son-in-law of Ceo Harry, what is he doing here?" I heard a lady ask her colleague as I walked past them with a clear destination in mind.
• "It is him ,what is that useless man doing in our company, doesn't he even remember that we are rivals?" One asked.
• "I won't be surprised if he can't even remember the way to Harry corporation." Someone joked.
• They burst out laughing.
• "You didn't see the news about his divorce yesterday?" An employee asked.
• "I didn't show me." The first girl said eagerly.
• I ignored their words and laughter, as I stopped at the receptionist desk.
• "Good afternoon sir ,how can I help you?" The receptionist asked with a pleasant smile.
• I wondered if she doesn't know me or if she was just doing her job and smiling, while also being annoyed at my presence here.
• I pushed aside that thought.
• "I want to see the CEO of your company, Mr Daniel." I said to the receptionist.
• The two female receptionists exchange confused glances.
• "Okay sir, do you have an appointment with him?" She asked as she arched her fine brow.
• "No, I don't, but I need to see him for an urgent matter." I replied and the receptionist rolled her eyes.
• She was only acting professional because she was at work , because I know she wants to insult me.
• "Sir ,you must have come to the wrong place, you can't just meet Ceo Daniel without having an appointment with him, you are beneath his level." She sneered at me as her friend pinched her on her lap.
• "Watch your words." Her colleagues cautioned her in a low voice, but she rolled her eyes.
• "Ouch stop that, he is from the rival company, why should I speak nicely to him?" She asked and clicked her tongue in annoyance.
• "Stop wasting my time, call him and tell him that I have information that he needs about Harry's corporation." I told her in a serious tone, but my words were not even heard by her.
• The receptionist talking to me did not want to move or try to acknowledge me, as she decided to sit back down in her chair and pretend I didn't exist.
• "Get out of here ,when you get tired of standing." She clicked her tongue in annoyance,as she picked up her pen to take down notes.
• The second receptionist, seeing that her colleague wasn't going to attend to me , was quick to take the phone and make the phone call to the secretary of the CEO.
• The first receptionist wanted to stop here.
• "You will get fired if you make that call." She warned her.
• "That's my business." She replied and called the CEO secretary.
• After the call ended she smiled again.
• "Right this way sir, our CEO wants to see you." She said as she glared at her colleague, then she left her desk and guided me to the elevator.
• When we got in, she pressed the button to the top floor.
• "Thank you for what you did, I won't forget it." I thanked her and she turned slightly to me.
• "Um...I am new here, I don't actually like the job ,but it's a good pay, so don't get me fired." She told me and I smiled.
• "I won't , I promise." I replied, though I don't think I should be making promises, when I was in a tough situation myself.
• The elevator came to a stop on the CEO floor.
• It wasn't easy to meet the CEO ,but Ceo Daniel was curious as to what I had to tell him.
• The receptionist took me to the CEO's door and then left .
• The CEO's secretary told him to knock and walk in. I knocked once, then I opened the door and walked in.
• I took two steps into the office and the CEO spoke.
• "Alex, you must have missed your way to show up here in my company." Ceo Daniel, the man I was looking for, told me with a friendly smile.
• Even though he had a friendly smile, he was very competitive in the business world, that's why Mr Harry, my ex Father in law doesn't like him.
• Ceo Daniel was sitting on a couch in his office.
• Ceo Daniel knew who I was, who didn't know the son-in-law of Harry who worked as a cleaner in his father in law's company, cleaning toilets and picking up trash.
• "I didn't miss my way, I came here to see you." I replied.
• "Okay what can I do for you?" He asked, as he gestured to the couch he was sitting on and I sat down in front of him.
• "I have valuable information about Harry corporation." I informed him and he nodded.
• "I see, why should I believe anything you say?" He asked me.
• I looked around at the center table, where his phone was resting and saw the video of me running away and I bit my lower lips.
• The video of my humiliation was playing in front of me, good thing he turned off the volume ,I don't even want to hear the silly questions that were being asked to me.
• I looked up to him.
• "Word travels fast." I commented and he nodded in confirmation, because he saw me staring at his phone.
• "Fine then , since you came such a long way, I will give you a listening ear, what information do you have for me?" He asked curiously.
• "No, that is a wrong question to ask me, you should be asking how much I should pay for the information you have." I corrected his words and his eyes widened a bit , but he quickly recomposed himself and crossed his legs.
• "How much?" He asked me and I smirked and cleared my throat.
• "Let's leave your office and go somewhere else you know is safe, leave your phone behind." I told him as I looked at his phone
• He didn't say much and just agreed to do as I said.
• He took me to a conference room.
• We both sat down again.
• "So as to how much I want to give you the information I have, I want one million dollars now and two million dollars when you find out I am telling the truth." I told him what I wanted and I saw the smile on his face slowly vanished.
• He narrowed his eyes.
• "Get out of my company building before you get dragged out of here." He told me politely, however I sensed hostility in his voice.
• "I guess you want to continue failing in everything you do and you want to lose more money, is it better to give me one million dollars and I tell you what I know or you lose more than one hundred million dollars on your next project?" I asked him and he tilted his head to the side and spun himself around in his chair, then the chair came to a stop in front of me and he nodded.
• "Okay, I agree, tell me what you know." He agreed and I smiled.
• "Send me one million dollars first and then I will talk." I told him.
• I really don't want any problems with him, so it's best I get my money first before talking.
• As of right now I only had about $50 to my name and I was jobless and homeless. If I leave here empty handed, I am screwed, because I will practically have to sleep on the floor.
• "You know I can kill you if you just came here to mess with me?" He asked me after a while of silence.
• "I know." I told him.
• "Fine, send me your account number." He told me and I sent it to him.
• He left the conference room for a moment and before he could return I saw the alert.
• He sent the money to me and I smiled.
• I made sure to check properly and the money was there.
• He came to sit with me again.
• "So tell me what do you have for me?" He asked and I began to speak without looking up from my phone because I was just happy I saw such a huge amount of money.
• "Your cell phone is bugged, that's why I told you to leave it in your office. " I first revealed.
• I heard him click his tongue in annoyance.
• "I check my phone for bugs every week, it is not possible it's bugged." He defended.
• I had the urge to roll his eyes, because I knew the information I had was reliable, but I didn't want to seem disrespectful and he still needed his money.
• I looked up to him.
• "Have you thought that maybe your brother-in-law is the one bugging the phone?" I asked him as I put my phone away into my backpack and folded his hands.
• Daniel gasped and eyed me suspiciously.
• He narrowed his eyes.
• "How do you know that it is my brother-in-law that's checking my phone for bugs?" Daniel asked in panic as he could not understand how I got to know about an information he thought was hidden.
• If I knew then who else would know.
