• Sneaking a body through a castle shouldn’t be that difficult, but I have a few close calls with guards patrolling and a few guests who got lost in the labyrinth of hallways when they left the ballroom. Lex and Ivy should be waiting in the tunnel so we can all escape together. I have heard of a secret tunnel that goes through the cave without having to use the hanging bridges. I’m not sure I can carry Lydia while trying to not fall into the watery depths of death below, so I’m glad for an alternate route.
• I’m near to my destination when the head guard, Sergei, appears down a hallway. I have to stop myself in time to prevent myself from bumping into the other vampire. His blue eyes look at me curiously. Then he sees the body wrapped up in a sheet in my arms.
