• I drift through the rest of the day in a daze after Damien drops me off. I know I probably shouldn’t have given him my new number, but I did it anyway. He makes me forget things I’d rather not think about, even though Lamen still lingers in my energy like a dark echo.
• Later in the day, I’m supposed to meet Kiana in the cafeteria. As soon as my business administration class ends, I burst through the door and rush to our usual table by the big window that catches the afternoon light. Kiana’s already there, sipping her latte like she has all the time in the world. She doesn’t know anything about my unexpected, crazy date with Damien.
