- Vance arrived one afternoon, her expression unreadable. She held a single evidence bag. Inside was a device Alexander recognized with a jolt: his own car’s black box, a high-end data recorder that logged vehicle diagnostics, GPS, and… interior audio.
- “The forensics team finally reconstructed the corrupted data from the night of the crash,” Vance said, her voice flat. “It’s not video. It’s audio. But it’s… comprehensive.” She placed a small audio player on the table. “You should both hear this.”
