• The council forces gave us exactly one hour to decide. One hour to choose between surrender and annihilation.
• We used the time to evacuate the students through the old smuggler tunnels. The same ones we'd used to approach the temple ruins where this whole mess had started. They were narrow, unstable in places, but they led away from the academy into neutral territory.
