• Simon made his way through the grand corridors of the castle, his steps echoing against the stone walls. He had just received word that his debts to the loan sharks had been paid off by his sister Rebecca, a weight lifted from his shoulders. However, it bothered him that she did it; he had been cruel to her, so he wanted to know what their father had over her to make her pay it off.
• Rebecca sat in her chamber, a mixture of relief and apprehension swirling within her. She had paid off Simon's debts, knowing it was the right thing to do, but the consequences of her actions weighed heavily on her mind because it might cause her father to continue to ask her for favors for Simon, which she didn't want to involve herself in. But now that he had a secret over her, she was trying to make herself believe if it was true or not, or could her father have lied? Rebecca thought as a short laugh left her lips. Like her father could make a joke.
