Chapter 16
- Elena stood in front of the massive wardrobe in her room, her fingers trailing over the elegant fabrics hanging inside. After what had happened earlier, the dress Lorenzo sent being torn to shreds, she refused to let whoever did it think they had won. She would attend the ball, not because she wanted to, but because she wouldn’t allow herself to be humiliated and controlled like this.
- She picked a stunning alternative, a deep emerald gown that hugged her curves and flowed effortlessly to the floor. The neckline was modest, but the way the fabric shimmered under the light made it look even more regal. Unlike the other dress, there was no matching mask for this one, and she decided against wearing any.
- As she dressed, she could hear the distant hum of music and laughter from the grand hall. The ball was already in full swing. Her heart pounded slightly, knowing she was stepping into a world she had no business being in.
