Chapter 8
- Vivianne Sinclair
- My stomach knotted and breath caught in my throat the moment I stepped into the gym.
- My eyes swept around, jaw almost reaching the ground at the pack of temptation before me. They were all shirtless, body dripping with sweat, and fuck! Those sexy abs... Fuck! I can't handle this.
- "Ms. V..." A familiar voice called. It was Scott. He'd just stepped out of the treadmill, his body dripping wet with sweat.
- "You're here..." He stopped before me, his eyes sweeping over my body. "You look different today."
- I rolled my eyes mentally.
- "In a good way. You look super hot today."
- "Yeah, I know." I said in my head, but just flashed him a smile.
- I heard the door open, and looking back over my shoulder, my heart stopped for a moment at the hot sight.
- Noah... He walked in, just in his brief. Fuck! His body was hot. So fucking hot that I could feel the heat in my chest.
- My eyes dropped to the budge in his trousers, and my throat tightened, my stomach fluttered with a crazy feeling that I couldn't explain.
- Our eyes locked for a moment, and I could swear I saw him smirk.
- "Oh, you haven't met him yet..." Scott chuckled as he went to stand beside Noah, wrapping an arm around his shoulder.
- "This is Noah Boulevard. He just transferred to our team one month ago."
- Oh... I see. This is why I didn't know he is now playing for this team.
- "He's my buddy, but he's boring. I'm the only one in the team that he's close with."
- Boring? Since when did his personality change? He used to be the liveliest person in school back then.
- "Ms V... His eyes are up here."
- My cheeks burned hot with embarrassment when Scott said, distracting my attention from Noah's dick as my eyes found their way down there again.
- Holy fuck! I need to disappear from here this minute.
- Scott is a fucking bastard!
- "Get to work." I said coldly to them, and without another word, turned away from them to observe others while trying to stay composed.
- Noah walked past me, brushing shoulders with me, and my heart fluttered.
- My eyes glued to him unknowingly as he stretched his body, my fingers itched to touch him. I hated this feeling more than his betrayal, but fuck! It wasn't something I could control.
- His eyes casually met mine, and I quickly looked away, swallowing the lump in my throat.
- Once we were done in the gym, they left for their locker room while the coach took me to my new office.
- My eyes swept around the office, a smile creeping up my face. Being in this large and standard office... This is a dream come true for me, but then, having Noah here was a huge distraction for me.
- 'Don't think about him, Vivienne. He's not worth it'
- I told myself, but still did the opposite. The image of him from that night and at the gym earlier clung hard to my heart.
- A gentle knock on the door drew my attention, and Noah walked in.
- My breath caught, abdomen twisted, and knees buckled beneath me. He was fully clothed, but all I saw was that hot image of him from earlier.
- Holy shit! I think I'm losing my mind.
- "Hey!" He said, his voice soft.
- "Why are you here?" I almost barked at him, but held back. I can't let my emotions and grudges get in the way of my job.
- "How may I help you?" I kept a straight face.
- "Uhm... I... I think I sprained my ankle."
- I raised a brow. "You think?"
- He chuckled nervously. "I mean, I sprained my ankle."
- I almost gasped with concern, but I held back, reminding myself that this wasn't the same Noah I fell for back then. Instead, he was the same Noah who betrayed me, so I shouldn't care whether he's hurt.
- But he was fine just now. When did he sprain his ankle?
- But I didn't say a word... I gestured toward the treatment table, and he went over to lie there while I reached for my gloves.
- Heat blossomed in my chest, my hands almost shaky as I examined his leg. He'd wince at every slight touch, but deep inside me, I knew nothing was wrong with him.
- I stepped away and sighed. "Do you always have this much time?"
- He turned to look at me, our eyes locked for a moment.
- "If you have enough time to throw around, you should go hit the ice rink and practice. I'm not in the mood for this." Then I walked back to my seat.
- "You are fine, by the way. You didn't hurt your leg."
- "Vivianne-"
- "It's Ms. Vivianne." I shot him a glare.
- "Call the next person in." I said, my eyes glued to the desktop screen.
- "V... Uhm... I mean, Ms. Vivianne... I-"
- "Can you please make my work easier by stopping to show your face here when you have nothing to complain about?" I wanted to yell at him, but I held back.
- 'You can't let your emotions get in the way of your work, Vivianne. It's your job to make sure the players are fine, so just pull yourself together'.
- "Noah, can we please save each other's time and energy by coming here only when it's necessary?"
- He sighed, then nodded and headed for the door, but paused and looked back at me as my stomach grumbled. Shit! I haven't had breakfast yet.
- Just as he stepped out, Scott walked in.
- Not him, please.
- "Hey, Ms. V..." He waved.
- "Yeah, Scott... What can I do for you?" I glanced at him.
- "Tch! You are too uptight... I like that about you though." He pulled out a chair in front of me.
- Oh, please!
- "What do you want, Scott?" I gritted out, but tried to remain calm.
- "Let's have breakfast together. What do you think?"
- My stomach grumbled again once it heard that.
- "Is that a yes?" Scott's face brightened...
