Chapter 10 The Broadcast

  • By the time Langley finished the chain-of-custody notes on the drive, Odette had a second pot of coffee going and a list of board talking points in front of her. She didn’t fidget. She didn’t fill silence. She read, crossed out a line, and kept moving. The restraint is part of why I’m here. The other part is less professional: I want her to grab my tie the way she did in that hallway and kiss me until I forget every rule I made for myself.
  • I set two cups on the desk. “Mirror’s clean,” I said. “Air-gapped, logged, sealed again. We’ll have a preliminary index by noon.”
