• The air on the other side of the archway was thick and shimmering, as though Ariella had stepped into a world woven from mist and memory. Colors pulsed faintly beneath her feet, and the sky above was an endless expanse of twilight—neither day nor night, but something suspended in between. Her breath caught in her throat. This was the spirit world Levi had spoken of, a realm both alien and hauntingly familiar.
