- He leaned forward to cup more water and flick it at Mariselle’s face. She spat, wiping water from her lips.
- “You have a lot of audacity and it intrigues me in a weird way,” he said with voice several pitch low, “you exist because I allow it. You breathe because I do not crush your throats. Remember that.”
