Chapter 3 Bleed For His Mistress

  • POV: Chloe
  • At the sound of her voice, Damian's fingers stopped dead in mid-air. A barely noticeable shift flickered in his eyes.
  • Vivian strutted over in her designer heels, her beautiful, arrogant face dripping with mockery.
  • "She couldn't get your attention by threatening to break the bond in your office, so she pulls this bloody stunt just to make your heart bleed."
  • She looked down at me. "Chloe, we aren't feral beasts without reasoning anymore. Can you act your age? The medics here deal with real border casualties every day. No one has the time for your jealous little games."
  • The young guard who carried me in looked bewildered. "It's not a stunt! The silver-coated construction materials fell. She took a lethal hit—"
  • "Shut up!"
  • Damian violently pulled his hand back from hovering over me.
  • The fleeting worry in his eyes froze over, replaced by absolute, unyielding frost.
  • "Chloe, I let you throw tantrums in private, but this is the Pack Hospital!"
  • His voice was like a whip. "Do you realize every minute of medical resources you waste on your childish games could cost a real warrior their life?!"
  • I lay paralyzed on the metal gurney, a desolate, freezing smile pulling at my lips.
  • Damian. The youngest pureblood Alpha in the Northern Federation. A wolf with the sharpest senses in the territory. He once sniffed out a rogue spy's erratic heartbeat from a hundred yards away and saved a whole camp.
  • And now? I was drenched in my own blood, my flesh literally sizzling and burning from weapons-grade silver. Yet, because of one word from that woman, he decided it was all a desperate act for attention.
  • My eyes burned. I clamped my jaw shut, forcing every ounce of weakness back down my throat.
  • Just then, a low-ranking medic scrambled out of the ER, looking absolutely terrified.
  • "Chief Vivian!" the medic hissed, panicked. "The patrol captain you performed the purification surgery on this morning... A piece of silver-laced drainage tubing was left inside his abdomen! He's hemorrhaging. He's going into anaphylactic shock!"
  • Vivian, who was acting like a queen just a second ago, drained of all color.
  • She grabbed Damian's sleeve in a panic. "Damian... I didn't mean to. It was a new suppression material, I swear I took it out..."
  • Before she could finish, Damian wrapped a large hand around her shoulder, his tone low and steady. "Don't panic. I'm here. He won't die."
  • Through the blinding red haze of my vision, I watched him lead Vivian and the senior medics sprinting back toward the ER. He didn't look back at me. Not once.
  • The crowd in the lobby dispersed.
  • The wounds on my shoulder and back had burned past the point of agony into total numbness.
  • Running purely on instinct, I leaned against the freezing metal wall, dragging my bleeding body toward the exit.
  • Just as I reached the elevator, heavy, rushed footsteps echoed behind me.
  • Damian caught up and clamped an iron grip around my uninjured wrist.
  • "Chloe, the blood bank is out of high-purity wolf blood. Your antibody match is the closest to that captain's. Come to the extraction room. Now."
  • The heat of his palm felt like a branding iron, making my entire body tremble.
  • "Let go... I'm not going!" I fought with everything I had to rip my arm out of his grasp. "Are you blind, Damian?! Can't you see I'm poisoned with silver? I'm injured!"
  • Just getting those words out drained the air from my lungs. I stumbled, nearly collapsing.
  • Damian took a deep breath, his brows knitting together in that sickeningly tolerant, patronizing tone he used on disobedient pups.
  • "Fine. I promise I won't reject our mating application. Is that enough?"
  • He looked down at me from his pedestal. "This is Vivian's first public surgery since becoming Chief Medic. If that patient dies, it will leave her traumatized. Now get to the extraction room!"
  • My heart felt like a wolf's claws were shredding it to ribbons.
  • I used to think that even if he favored Vivian, he still harbored some sliver of affection for me.
  • I saw the truth now. How utterly pathetic.
  • It was that woman's amateur, fatal mistake, and he was going to drain my blood to cover her tracks!
  • I suddenly lost all energy to argue. I just stared at him, my eyes dead.
  • The next second, completely ignoring my resistance, Damian used his overwhelming Alpha strength to drag me into the extraction room and threw me brutally onto the cold metal chair.
  • My ribs smashed against the armrest. The half-clotted wounds on my back ripped open again. The silver dust sizzled audibly against my flesh, and a cold sweat instantly soaked through my clothes.
  • The young nurse assigned to draw blood looked at my deathly pale face and my sweat-drenched forehead, her hands shaking.
  • "Alpha... the silver poison is spreading in her system. Forcefully extracting blood in this state doesn't meet safety protocols. It could drain her wolf completely..."
  • Damian didn't even spare a glance at my vitals monitor. He cut her off with ice in his voice.
  • "She's faking it. Draw it now. If anything happens, I, as her Alpha, will take full responsibility!"
  • Dropping those words, he turned and marched back to the ER without a single backward glance.
  • The thick, freezing needle pierced my vein. The bright crimson blood was ruthlessly siphoned from my body.
  • The room spun, the edges of my vision collapsed, and my consciousness plunged into absolute darkness.
