• The first thing I felt was the cold as the damp earth pressed against my cheek. When I tried to move, pain shot up my arms. My wrists were bound tight behind my back, the rope cutting into my skin.
• My eyes opened slowly, the world around me swimming in a haze. I could still feel the poison's effect, dulling my senses, making my every breath heavy. I sucked in air anyway, forcing my mind to clear.
