• The next morning, as promised, Finn got up early and left the room before Isolde could discover that he and Annie had shared a bed. His clothes, freshly laundered and carrying the faint scent of detergent, were warm from the dryer as he slipped back into his shirt and trousers. Quietly, he made his way to the kitchen and began preparing breakfast.
