Chapter 2 Rubbing Shoulders With Death

  • "Get behind the wheel, you dumb ass!"
  • On the way to the hospital, the Vito family's ponies stepped on the gas and fought against death.
  • After arriving at the hospital, when the horsemen saw the gunshot wounds on Lucius' body, they all stood outside the operating room with stony faces, hating that they couldn't greet the young master's murderer with all the bullets in their magazines.
  • After two days and nights of resuscitation, Lucius' vital signs finally stabilized.
  • Because his heart was different from the norm, it grew on the right side.
  • This is how he avoided the bullets shot by Robert and saved his life.
  • The police intervened in the investigation, but the ponies knew nothing about how Lucius was injured, which directly led to the difficulty of the police in investigating the case.
  • In order to avoid police entanglements and enemies again seeking revenge.
  • Lucius in the escort of the horsemen down to a flour mill located in the suburbs of Philadelphia to convalesce.
  • The second owner of the Vito family, Leccio Vito, Lucius's own uncle, was a burly bald man.
  • After two months of convalescence, Lucius gradually regained his healthy body.
  • However, the gunshot scar on his chest was vaguely painful from time to time.
  • Whenever the weather is cloudy and rainy, the pain is extraordinarily tearing.
  • Lucius looked at the photo with Daisy, spirits swallowed painkillers, a fire burned away their past sweet time.
  • Knocking lightly on the door a few times, Leccio brought a courier to Lucius, heartbroken: "Don't consume yourself for that kind of woman, think more about your future."
  • Taking the delivery, Lucius unwrapped it in front of Leccio and inside turned out to be a stockbroker's license.
  • Lucius happily got up and hugged Leccio, "Uncle, I got into stockbroker."
  • "Brat, I'm so happy for you. So won't you be able to go to Wall Street and make it big?"
  • "Yes uncle. But before that, I promised you to make the flour mill business stronger and bigger. This is something I will never go back on my word."
  • Seeing Lucius reenergized, Leccio was comforted by his old age.
  • Pulling open the desk drawer, Lucius took out a world map and hung it on the wall.
  • It was densely labeled with the distribution network of the world's major mafias.
  • Leccio put on his presbyopic glasses and looked at the labeling on the map in shock, exclaiming, "Lucius, you are truly a genius. Can you tell me how you did this?"
  • Standing in front of the world map, Lucius pointed to the location of Philadelphia and analyzed, "Right now, the underground order in Philadelphia has always been held by the old families, and for us outsiders, they don't even bother to cooperate with us."
  • "This point is my biggest headache."
  • "So ...... so uncle, we have to break that mold. Utilizing the convenience of the flour mill, we can take our business to every state in America."
  • Leccio was stunned, "This is not something that can be done just by talking about it."
  • Lucius fixed his eyes, "I understand uncle's concern. But now we must throw our weight around, and there is no turning back for anyone."
  • Removing his glasses, Lysio sat on a stool and lit a cigarette.
  • "So tell us your plan."
  • "Recruit an on-road transportation team and plan twenty sales routes. Use the flour mill's proper line of cover to transport the processor's private goods (drugs) to the designated buyers."
  • Lucius hit the nail on the head about the gray industry that Uncle Leccio had been keeping hidden from the public.
  • During the time he spent recuperating from his injuries, Lucius had long ago mapped out the basic operations of the flour mill run by his uncle Leccio.
  • On the surface, it is a formal enterprise that does fine flour processing and sells it, but in the dark it is a drug manufacturing factory that operates in a small way.
  • The cigarette butt in Leccio's hand burned as he listened to Lucius' plan.
  • "I didn't want you to get involved in the family business, but still, nothing can be hidden from you."
  • "Uncle. We are family, and after my father and mother passed away, you are the closest thing I have to family."
  • "Good boy. I've been childless all my life, and I've long treated you as if you were my child. Our feud with the Kappa family, uncle assures you that as long as our strengths are equal, I will personally kill that bastard Robert!"
  • Lucius seriously said, "No, no, no, he must die by my hands."
  • Lecio hugged Lucius again.
  • "Then rest early, I will gather everyone at your dispatch in the morning."
  • "Thank you, Uncle."
  • ......
  • Early the next morning.
  • The employees of the flour mill went to work as normal, and outside the factory building the Vito family's horsemen were assembling in front of the office building.
  • Leccio took an updated list of family members and handed it to Lucius.
  • Unfolding the list of family members in his hand, Lucius just glanced at it and memorized the names on it.
  • Facing a crowd of mafiosi, Lucius said impassionedly:
  • "Brothers, patriarchs, you are the mainstay of the Vito family, and even more so, the brothers in arms and legs that I, Lucius, rely on."
  • "Today, we stand here! Standing on a nation that started out as a colony!"
  • "I swear by God, I will make this land stained with the blood of our forefathers stand as a monument to our family!"
  • The Mafiosi gazed solemnly at Lucius.
  • Leccio had never seen Lucius with such a rallying cry, an aura not unlike that of his dead father, Leccio Vito!
  • "Mars. Overland transportation from Philadelphia to Detroit is the best path for Vito's Flour to capture the super market in every state in North America, and by taking Detroit, we occupy a border crossing in our favor! Rally your riders and show me what you've got!"
  • The bearded Mars nodded to Lucius with a determined gaze.
  • "Clark. On the beautiful West Coast, I want your speedboats cruising non-stop every week. Let the paperboys of Gotham corrupt me, let the little green dragons of Boston crave and cry for me, can you do that?"
  • Clark straightened the jacket on his body and grinned as he gestured LOVE.
  • Lucius turned his gaze to Lysio beside him, gave him a shallow hug, and said sincerely, "Next it will be hard work for Uncle to catch up on the flour production, as I'm going to make a personal trip to New Orleans to open up our landing grounds. Please wait for my good news in the meantime."
  • "Lucius, all the best."
  • Walking down the steps, Lucius shook hands with the mafia members cordially and took out cigarettes to entertain them without any show.
  • Seeing the friendly Lucius, all the mafia members were full of energy and followed their boss according to the plan.
  • After half a year of working together, Lucius with a quick mind and not bad hands, soon made a name for himself in Philadelphia and New Orleans, and collected the mafia members who had been broken up by the police, to coalesce their strength.
  • During this time, he also took Uncle Leccio's flour business to several large states in North America and along the East Coast.
  • Was consumers and businessmen unanimously praised, Vito Flour was praised in the newspaper as an outstanding private enterprise.
  • As for the family's gray industry, such as moneylenders, smuggling, drugs, and so on, but also earn a lot of money.
  • With the accumulation of wealth, Lucius tired of this life of fear.
  • Look in the mirror, but the gun scars on his body are constantly reminding himself that he can never go with the flow before he gets his revenge ......
