- Cold air pressed against Scarlett’s skin as the heavy iron gates slammed shut behind them. The chapel ruins, once a shelter for conspirators, had become a tomb. Rusted bolts slid into place on every doorway. A single lantern flickered overhead, casting long, twisted shadows across faces etched with fear and resolve.
