Chapter 3 Not a fairytale.

  • As Zoey walked out of her room, she felt alive. In some minutes, it was going to official that she's leaving this home and that was most certainly a good thing.
  • It's funny how life is sometimes, one moment, things are upside down but then, like magic, there's glitter everywhere and once it settles, you're right back in a fairytale again.
  • That was how Zoey felt right now.
  • Like she was in a fairytale.
  • Although having Mike propose to her was another fairytale.
  • Infact everything about Mike seemed like a fairytale.
  • Zoey still couldn't believe that someone like him could be interested in someone like her.
  • She's not even special. She was adopted and she's often maltreated in the place she calls home.
  • Her room is so different from that of her sister. While her sister has everything a standard room can have, her own room lacks color or ventilation. It only has one window and it's broken so when rain falls, she has to deal with the water splashing on her bed.
  • She could remember when Mike had asked her to marry him, he had copied a poem from one of Edgar Allan Poe's book and put her name in it.
  • She still remembers the poem infact.
  • "The moon never beams without bringing me dreams of beautiful Zoey Daniel. And stars never rise but I feel the bright eyes of beautiful Zoey Daniel."
  • She knew he didn't write the poem but it was the thought that count and she could only hope that Annabelle Lee, the real person it was written for would allow her to share some of it because the poem made her feel somewhat important.
  • It made her feel like she mattered to someone.
  • And although Mike had gone abroad to further his education and her mother had told her that he would never come back to marry her.
  • That he would find someone else worthy of him there, she was glad that it wasn't true and that he really came back to fulfill his promise to her.
  • And so she continued smiling as she walked to the door where her mother was already attending to Mike.
  • He looked older than he was before he left but he looked amazing nevertheless.
  • And when he looked to the side and found her standing there.
  • He opened his arms for her come in, and she ran into his arms.
  • The hug was warm and overdue and they both enjoyed it.
  • "Welcome." Zoey said in a shy voice.
  • "Thankyou, you look amazing." Mike said and gave her a peck on her cheeks.
  • "You look amazing as well." Zoey said with a light blush.
  • "Now now, let's eat Zoey, don't keep our guest standing by the door." Eve said with scorn in her voice but Zoey couldn't care less right now.
  • This was her moment and it made her feel great.
  • "Let's go and sit." Zoey said to Mike who took the hands she put out and they walked hands in hands to the dining where they would be having lunch.
  • "Why are you early?"
  • "You said you would be coming for dinner." Zoey said remembering their conversation from the night before.
  • "Oh yes, I couldn't wait to meet you that's why." Mike said making Zoey blush even more.
  • "Zoey, help me out in the kitchen." Eve said interrupting the moment.
  • "Yes mother." Zoey said following Eve to the kitchen leaving Amy alone with Mike.
  • "So, you like my sister huh?" Amy said to which Mike nodded happily.
  • "Why?" Amy thought to ask.
  • Mike was really popular back in college but he was quiet and introverted so Amy didn't think he was a nice catch. However, if she had known that he was from a reputable family, she would have snatched him from Zoey like she did to the other guys that were interested in Zoey.
  • She either badmouthed Zoey to them or offered them something Zoey could not - Sex.
  • She did that so often that she had lost count of how many times she slept with random men because she was trying to keep them from dating her sister.
  • But Mike? He was the one that got away.
  • And her mother had constantly put her down because Zoey got the catch and not her but right now, she was going to work her charm and teach Zoey once again that innocence wasn't everything.
  • And that all men wants the same thing - Sex.
  • "So why do you like Zoey?" Amy had asked again seeing the odd look on Mike's face as he was unsure of what to say.
  • "She's beautiful." Mike said.
  • "So you fell for her beauty?" Amy said smirking. She was seated opposite Mike so it was easy for her to trace her legs under the table to his. She was good at this.
  • She knew what men want. She knew how to get a man hard. Her legs were already in between his thighs and she could already feel his length and God!, was he huge down there.
  • Zoey was surely in for something.
  • "I don't think what you're doing is appropriate." Mike had said shocking Amy.
  • "What's she doing?" Zoey had asked once she returned to the dinning with a tray of food in her arms.
  • Something was wrong here and Zoey could feel it but she just didn't know what it was.
  • She looked to Mike's flushed face and Amy's shocked ones waiting for an answer.
  • "Nothing, she's just asking me why I like you." Mike said saving the day.
  • "Oh." Zoey said not sure if that was true but she had to believe it anyways.
  • She returned to the kitchen leaving Mike with Amy once again.
  • Little did she know that her fairy tale was going to crumble soon.
  • But maybe that was a good thing because Life really isn't a fairytale.
  • Life is funny and by funny, it's mostly - can you stop the car?, I feel funny or this meal taste funny kinda way.
  • Short form? Life's awful.
