Chapter 1 Prologue

  • Ice is a good son to his mother. He never gives her headaches. They may lack in other things, but his mother ensures he doesn't feel it.
  • His entire day revolves around studying. He comes home from school, eats, takes care of himself, and then studies again. Although he wants to help his mother, she prefers otherwise. Even though he wishes to go out and play with other kids, he doesn't know anyone in their area, so he chooses to study at home for his mother's happiness. He remains a consistent top student even though they frequently move homes.
  • On the other hand, there's a family that eats together but doesn't talk. One woman's eyes almost popped out in anger because of what they found out, while another was extremely happy. The two others there didn't care and hurriedly went to work.
  • "That's still two weeks away, don't get too excited," said the woman who didn't care earlier.
  • The father and son looked at each other, shrugged, and didn't say anything.
  • "Why do we even need to prepare for her arrival? She could just come and work in the company. Why the need for preparation?" said the woman who looked like she'd been denied a lollipop earlier.
  • "She's a famous artist and model in the U.S., so we should probably prepare because otherwise, our family will look foolish in the media. Think about it," said a woman who couldn't speak earlier because she was in a hurry to eat.
  • "I'm full already. I'll go ahead of you. Bye," she said, taking her bag from the other table.
  • This is the Villanueva family. Respected and recognized in the business world.
  • Jan is the eldest of their five siblings. He's intelligent and could possibly follow in their father's footsteps.
  • May is the second child and is known as the old maid of the family. At the age of mid-30s, she hasn't even introduced a boyfriend to their family.
  • Aira is known as the so-called perfect child among their siblings, but their mother doesn't accept her. She always does everything she can to make them proud of her. Beautiful, an honor student, a student leader, and consistently a valedictorian. She's also one of the things that are always talked about to replace their father's position, but their mother can't accept it.
  • Next is Ken, a rocker and athlete. He's happy-go-lucky and fun to be with. He's always with Aira in everything she does. He's also one of those who admire and praise his older sister. He idolizes her but their mother always keeps him away so he just distances himself from everything.
  • Miere, short for Meriam, is a famous model, artist, and endorser, not in the Philippines but in other countries so she has been independent in living in the U.S. She's not used to her parents' attention because they're far from her and she gets excessive attention from other people.
  • Mrs. Samantha is the mother of the household, but she looks like a lady because of her fashion and style. She doesn't seem stressed about her husband's business. There's a five-year age gap between them but the man looks older, maybe because he has a lot of work and focuses more on expanding the business.
  • Two years since Miere left the country. So she'll come back and work here now. Everyone was surprised and shocked, but Miere doesn't care, even Ken because they knew what would happen.
  • Their family is in chaos again with all sorts of people from different stations. They're losing privacy as siblings so their older sister is very angry. She doesn't want attention and prefers a quiet daily life.
  • Their family is complete. They were raised in wealth and didn't have a hard time growing up and thinking. They didn't have a hard time with material things but all of them had a hard time communicating with each other. They're a complete family but they don't feel it, even though they only live in one house, their meetings are rare like raindrops in the heat. Now they've just had a meal and they're having a hot meal.
  • "I'll go first," said a woman politely to them.
  • Their breakfast ended with one leaving the table one by one.
  • Meanwhile, the mother and son were happily walking to school while chatting. They had a long walk ahead but they still had a lot of time. For his mother to make sure he gets there safely, she accompanies him. Even if he didn't want to, he can't stop his mother's small joy.
  • Ice is so proud of his mother.
