Chapter 7
- Adrian
- It's been weeks since my father threat, not like I give a damn anyways. I'd put effort in carrying out a search for Violet, but she was no where to be found. Though I was bothered, but I also had my concern laced on Emily. She's my major concern as of now.
- One Knock. Two Knock. Three!, Yet no response, I opened the door as I walked inside.
- "Emily?" I called out, my heart racing as I approached her bedside. My pulse quickened as I saw her lying there, her body tense and huddled together.
- "You're here," she whimpered, and a wave of calm washed over me.
- "Yes, I am. My dearest Emily," I whispered, gently touching her face. Guilt washed over me as I realized how I had neglected her over the past few weeks, despite knowing full well about her medical condition.
- "I can't express how relieved I am to see you. I thought you had truly left me. I could only see shadows. I feared I'd have to breathe without you by my side... I thought," she whispered, her voice trembling with emotion.
- "Emily, it's okay. I'm here now, and everything will be alright," I reassured her, holding her hand tightly.
- "I love you Adrian, I really do love you. And I'll always do, until death do us apart,"
- "I love you too, Emily. With all my heart," I replied, tears welling up in my eyes. "And I promise, I'll always be here for you, no matter what." I have her my words.
- I was ready to sail with her on the same boat, even if it means walking through the fire, I would surely do whatever it takes.
- "Should I call the doctor?" I queried, observing her pulse.
- "He just left a few minutes before you walked in, but I'll be okay with the hope of having you here," she replied, a smile lighting up her face.
- "Cock and bull story, more like she's the first person to die," Kai snickered, his words cutting through the solemn moment.
- "Damn it! Must we go through this even now?" I shot back through our mind link, shutting him out immediately. Emily needed me in such a critical moment. She was my first and true love, and even if it meant defying my father's orders, I didn't hesitate.
- The blaring sound of my phone shattered the moment, and I glanced at it before looking back at her.
- "I need to take this," I said, feeling guilty for the interruption, as I saw it was Reynold calling.
- "Sure," she replied, her smile fading slightly as she understood the necessity of the call.
- "You need to come home, Alpha!" Reynold's urgent tone cut through the line, leaving his message hanging in the air.
- "What is it, Reynold? This isn't the time for nonsense..." I began, but my voice trailed off as he mentioned the InnovaTech project.
- "I didn't order them to stop," I interjected, my mind racing back to the countless sleepless nights and tireless efforts I had poured into that project.
- "No, you didn't. The Alpha King did," Reynold clarified, his words landing like a heavy blow. My eyes widened in shock as my thoughts instantly flashed back to the ominous words my father had spoken.
- VIOLET POV
- The Redmoon pack manor, wasn't as large compared to that of Silvermoon, but it was quite accommodating.
- "Please relay the information to the Alpha King, that we're here," My Mama spoke to the Beta that was standing at the door to chamber.
- "Is he expecting you both?" His strict tone was for sure, some kinda warning that can back one off immediately.
- "No, it isn't a thing of urgency, I only intend to introduce my granddaughter to him," Mama explained calmly, ignoring the subtle warning in the Beta's voice.
- The Beta nodded curtly, his expression unreadable as he stepped aside to allow us entry into the pack manor. As we walked through the corridors, I couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation mixed with apprehension. Meeting the Alpha King was no small matter, especially considering the rumors that surrounded him.
- As we approached the grand chamber where the Alpha King held court, my heart began to beat faster. Mama's hand on my shoulder provided a reassuring presence as we entered the room.
- The Alpha King sat on his throne, his gaze sharp and penetrating as he regarded us. I couldn't help but feel a shiver run down my spine under his intense scrutiny.
- "Alpha King," Mama greeted respectfully, bowing her head slightly. "I hope we're not intruding."
- The Alpha King's expression softened slightly as he inclined his head in acknowledgment. "Not at all, Charlotte. What brings you here today?" The voice was like a reminder to my ears. It was sounding all too familiar.
- "I simply wished to introduce my granddaughter, Violet, to you," Mama explained, gesturing towards me.
- The Alpha King's gaze shifted to me, and I fought to keep my composure under his scrutiny. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Violet," he said, his voice commanding yet strangely gentle.
- "The pleasure is mine, Alpha King," I replied, trying to keep my voice steady despite the nervousness coursing through me.
- He stood to his feet, his full face coming to a full view, and then I almost gasped.
- I was right for a second, "Mason?" I didn't realize when I screamed it out.
- My Mama nudged me, a sign to tell me I should show some respect.
- "Hi Violet, we meet again," He smiled at me, revealing those sets of his dentition as he walked to where we stood.
- "You have quite a mannered Granddaughter, Charlotte. I must confess. A female who rides, a horse and an incredible chef, plus an experience of staying in the human world. She'll be useful to the palace..." I watched as he recounted my lies to my Mama. Not like I had any options, I had to protect myself.
- "I must take it that you've met with my granddaughter before, Alpha?" My granddaughter hold on mine tightened as she queried the Alpha king.
- "Yes, I met her in the woods today," he shrugged his shoulder indifferently.
- How on Earth did Mason the Globetrotter turned out to be the Alpha King?
