• I couldn't sleep a wink last night; my mind was consumed by thoughts of Cody. Did I make a mistake inviting Caspian or engaging in conversation with him? I spent the entire night brooding over this dilemma. We intended to keep a low profile, enjoying our time in the human realm away from werewolves, Lycans, and Gasin's issues. But here we were, in a conflict over someone I'd just met.
• I had hoped Cody would listen and understand that everything I did was for us. I envisioned a lovely dinner, but instead, we argued, and it seemed unlikely we'd reconcile. It was the first time Cody treated me with such disregard. Normally, our fights were swiftly followed by reconciliation, but now, the resolution seemed distant. I couldn't cancel plans with Caspian, yet Cody refused to hear me out.
