  • I stepped in first on my own not following protocol by stepping in with Orian and my heart jumped pounding in my throat on seeing the occupants of the room.
  • The diner room was already filled with people all of them on their feet paying respects to Orian who had quickly followed my lead and was standing behind me but their attention wasn't on him, their attention was on me.
  • All pairs of eyes in the room were fixated on me, not excluding the guards. They weren't gazes of admiration but rather scrutiny and hatred. My skin crawled as they peered at me with resentment, like I was a lamb amongst wolves. The intensity of their gazes boring deep into my soul registering that it would only take a miracle to be accepted by them.
