Chapter 44 Forty-four

- The restaurant is small, cozy and most importantly, not packed. We pick a booth by the glass windows which gives us a great view outside. Asides from ours, only two other booths are occupied. One with a man who’s wolfing down a burger and working on his laptop at the same time, and another by a man and woman, both of them locked in conversation as they eat.
- Rory, who’s sitting opposite me, leans forward and braces her elbows on the table, staring at me expectantly. Her eyes are bright and shiny with some emotion I can’t exactly name but I attribute it to positive ones. Her lips are pink, her cheeks slightly rosy. She looks happy and so goddamn beautiful.
