• "Can you leave me alone with Miss Queen, Young Slinder?" he asks, possessively and without a hint of tenderness.
• Eliot looks at him as if he's crazy, and his eyes turn to me for approval. I nod to reassure him and to let him leave me alone with Ashton. My friend gets out of the water without any grace due to the way Ashton addresses me.
