Chapter 9 Bumping Into Olivine

  • Naturally, Olivine was all for dating a wealthy and excellent man like Evander.
  • She had tried to meet Evander on multiple occasions with the excuse of paying Valerie a visit, but he had rejected her requests with all sorts of reasons.
  • Sometimes, she couldn't even get to see him at all.
  • As such, she felt the need to be bold and get her message across after finally being able to meet him.
  • Olivine slightly tightened her grip on Evander's fingers as she cautiously looked at him from the side. “Isn't that right, Evander?”
  • Evander frowned when he heard that and slowed down before coming to a halt. He then stared at Olivine with his lips curled into a cold smile.
  • As Isaac was so focused on pleasing the two of them, he didn't notice the changes in Evander's expression.
  • Evander was about to say something in response when Isaac asked, “Wow! You two look perfect together, Mr. Golding and Ms. Sherrock! Congratulations on getting married so soon! May I know when you two will be holding the wedding so I can make the preparations for it?”
  • Since that was exactly what Olivine wanted, she went along with the flow and said with a gentle smile, “Evander, how about we head back and pick out a suitable date for our wedding? This is one of Old Mrs. Golding's wishes, so I'm sure she'd love to have it fulfilled as soon as possible.”
  • Olivine was trying really hard to look graceful and big-hearted, but Evander wasn't buying it.
  • Evander slowly tightened his grip on the cigar and crushed it in his palm.
  • He had no interest whatsoever in wealthy, spoiled heiresses like Olivine.
  • However, he had to keep his responses neutral to avoid ruining the friendship between their families.
  • “We're in no rush. Golding Group's businesses have yet to stabilize, and my schedule is full with international conferences. I can't afford to let my personal affairs affect the company's development. Surely, you'd understand where I'm coming from, Ms. Sherrock?” Evander replied coldly.
  • The smile on Olivine's face was frozen in place.
  • No rush? He may be in no rush because it's common for men to start having a family at the age of thirty, but I'm twenty-eight now! My value will significantly decrease if I don't marry soon!
  • Olivine's chest was heaving when she noticed the mocking look in his eyes and the way he had politely turned her down.
  • “Evander, I—”
  • Not wanting to give up just yet, Olivine was about to say something when a figure emerged from the corner she was standing next to.
  • Angeline pulled on the brim of her hat to hide her face and kept her head low so people wouldn't recognize her. The clacking of her high heels could be heard as she walked swiftly while looking the other way.
  • I left the house without my bodyguards today. It'd be problematic for me if a commotion were to break out...
  • With that in mind, Angeline quickened her pace as she made her way around the corner. By the time she saw someone standing in front of her, it was too late.
  • “Ah!” Olivine exclaimed in shock when Angeline bumped into her and knocked her Chanel handbag off her shoulder.
  • Having lost her balance, Olivine stumbled forward and crashed right into Evander.
  • Evander reached out to hold her steady but quickly let go a few seconds later.
  • He frowned when he noticed a familiar scent and stared at the person behind Olivine.
  • All he saw was the side of Angeline's face, but he found himself captivated by her tall nose, thin eyebrows, and slightly powdered cheek.
  • Olivine was already in a bad mood at the time, so she lost her temper when Angeline bumped into her. “Hey! What the heck is wrong with you? Can't you watch where you're going?”
