• Florian turned fully to me, and I grabbed the gun tight, my lips parting, my vision blur through the tears. He said nothing for a while, his eyes examining mine.
• I finally tore my gaze off him, only to see that the men were still around my mother. They indeed seemed to be doctors, and I put it all together. Florian was using medical knowledge and expertise to disable my mother, the same way he had done to Ronan. It is why Ronan seemed to be locked in his own body, rightfully unable to ever force himself on a girl or kill her.
