• Gunfire cracked through the marina, each shot echoing across the water. The sharp smell of gunpowder stung Ariana’s nose, mingling with the salt in the air. She pressed herself lower against the cold concrete, Damien’s arm shielding her as splinters of wood exploded from the crates above them.
