• That smirk was the only reminder that the pompous Waylen was present. His phone beeped, and the screen lighted. There was a text from one Rey. I could only see the first line, and that bit was what I read aloud.
• “If you want to scare her off…” I looked up at Waylen, and he snatched the phone, pocketing it without opening the message. “Who are you trying to scare off now, boss?”
• “No one. None of your business. Stop reading my messages,” he snapped.
