  • The subways of New York City hummed with a muted vibration, a sound almost like a distant heartbeat reverberating through the tunnels. Jack and Maria stood at the edge of a derelict platform, their eyes scanning the shadows cast by the flickering fluorescent lights. A strange energy clung to the air, palpable and unsettling, like static electricity before a storm.
  • “This place gives me the creeps,” Maria muttered, her voice barely above a whisper. The shadows seemed to stretch and twist, warping the reality around them. The station’s usual clamor had faded, leaving an eerie silence that was occasionally broken by disconcerting whispers—like faint echoes from another dimension.
  • Jack nodded, his gaze fixed on a swirling distortion in the air. “We’re definitely not alone here. Something’s not right.”
